Hello Tango

Most psychics don't make claims they just inform people of how they work & the areas that they work well with.

When in a reading situation the future isnt always the focus of spirit, more often than not it will be the past or the present.

So yes, with the majority of psychics I would say that you can.

1) I have some degree of psychic awareness.
2) no, the staments of psychically gained information should not be taken without question. they are afterall human, even if you recognize the information as being from a legitimate source, the medium(of transmission... the person) is not perfect and may interperet wrong and such. even with the best intentions it can be gotten wrong, or even not "wrong" but imperfect in ways that can lead to misunderstandings.

there ARE psychic abilitys given by God. in fact the majority are indeed even given by what christians call God.

heres the problem for andy's answer.

the old testament gives instructions not to do certain things.
firstly, for someone who has psychic ability... at least in general, its simply something they can perceive. like you can see,. its not an activity that is necccesarily voluntarily sought out.

so , the old testament does not say WHY not to.
christians invent their own explanation as to why, in a way that does not agree with old testament beliefs.

the reason is because these things can, when approached imprecisely, lead to idolotry and falling away from God.(this only ever applied to Jews anyway) not because its demonic or any nonsense like that. the old testament never says its evil. just that Jews aren't supposed to seek it out. this is a very very broad unspecific instruction.

its not ALL cold reading. though some people may use cold reading to supplement the fact that Psychic abilitys are not like having tomorrows newspaper. sometimes it gives information that is useful to portray, sometimes it does not. and saying "I am not getting anything at all" isn't very good looking.

with this stuff its not neccesarily an issue of charging or not. its not fair to say that if they charge at all that they are not real, because its reasonable to make some money and all...

That depends on how reputable the psychic is. If you go to some rinky-dink hag that dresses like she just stepped out of a Tolkien novel who wheedles you out of 20 bucks to read your cards, then it's probably wrong. She did use cold reading. If however this hag treated you professionally and demanded a MODEST fee, then it is probably closer to the truth.

you know it's interesting that psychics have gotten credibility because police departments will call them in on cold cases. The police are well aware that they have no real value, they bring them in to satisfying public calls that they do something or to "psyche out" the killer.

It's just like people who play instruments - some are great; some not so great. There are some fabulous ones around.

Those who deny they exist are just jealous.

Nope. You cannot believe what they say.
If they have any power it comes from the
father of lies, the devil.
The Bible calls what they do "divination".
Which is a sin similar to the sin of witchcraft.
When you mess with that stuff,
you're playing with fire.
"How can you take fire into your bosom,
and not get burned?" the Bible says.

No, they use what called a "cold read," an old parlor trick.
