I'm not a Hindu, I'm an RE teacher, but hey. You could say Hinduism is the best, because you can really follow any religion you want as well as being a Hindu. There are 330 million accessible notions of God, which is nice. And the have a cool set of ideas about reincarnation and the like, which makes a fair amount of sense in some ways. BUT I would also say that what you should look at in terms of "cool" in a religion is more how the people belonging to it act. In which case you could argue of any religion that it is the best, since in the end the people who know anything about it are just basically nice to other people all the time, which is awesome...obviously. SO I would say every religion is equally cool, unless there's something specific that you're looking for.

For me the most important are besides Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam is the Chaitanya Charatimrita writen in Bengali with English translation and purports by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada These are the pastimes of Lord Chaitanya. who is Lord Krishna Himself who appeared 500 years ago in the Mood of Radharani. He is also considered Radha and Krishna Combined and the most merciful incarnation of the Lord.
Then I recommend Nectar of Devotion (Which I think you have read) and Sri Iso Panisad by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. This is a very small book Sanskrit and English translation but very powerful. Also Sri Brahma Samhita Spoken by Lord Brahma. With Sanskrit and English Translation by Bhaktivedanta, I really love the Books BY Maha Nihdi Swami a disciple of Bhaktivevedanta, Like Appreciating Sri Vrindavan Dham and Appreciating Navadvipa Dhama and The Art of Chanting Hare Krishna. They are compilation books of all different scriptures but extremely nectar. You can get all of these at krishnaculture.com
Hope this enlivens your devotional life. Thanks ji.

Ok. For the start, know that there are 108 Upanishads. Upanishads are the expansions of the 4 Vedas, captured with right precision and analyzed consistency.
Read all that. It is available in many Indian languages too, but i believe there's a lot versions available in English worldwide.

Dear Aradhana Sister,
These following books are available from Ramakrishna mutt in English ( I think they may have Hindi too ).
1.Upanishads.
2. complete literature of Swamy Vivekananda ji ( it tells about complete Sanatana Dharma).
3.Braahma Sutra Bhasya by swamy Gambhirananda ji ( it is the best commentary on Veda Vyasa's Brahma Sutras. It is very poetically written.
4.Ramakrishna Bodhaamrutam in English.
5 A set of 5 Cd's of selected Bhagavath Geeta Slokams in Sanskrit and its meaning in English.
You may try Yoga vaashistam .I think it is difficult to get.But if you can fortunately get it (it is 32000 verses in Sanskrit ,by sage Valmiki) ..you are are really fortunate. It is the ultimate book on Vedanta , really.
God bless you.

The essence of 'Hindu' Scriptures you can find in the book:
VEDANTA TREATISE. The Eternities. by A. Parthasarathy.
This is a 350 page book, its revised 12th Edition was published in 2004 . It gives with great clarity about all the essence of the wisdom of one and the only source of Scripture,Veda/Vedanta.

my knowledge of scripture is very limited, as I was almost an atheist for long. However after opening my eyes, Mother nature arranged some books for me to read, which gave me great insights into our great religion.....since bhakti is incomplete without gyan and vice-versa, both should be taken care of.
1--autobiography of a Yogi
2- Gyaneshwari gita - it is said shri krishna re-told Geeta to sant gyaneshwar.... same geeta written in a different way as re-told by Sant gyaneshwar to us
3- Raja Yoga by vivekananada
4- Secret of Vedas - by Sri Aurobindo
5- Sat -Chit-Ananad by Osho
6- Kathopanishada
7- Ishopanishada
8- Spiritual Experiences - by Swami Sivananda
9 - The serpent power - by sir John woodruff
10- Sadhna - by Geeta press gorakhpur
all these books are available in hindi and english both.
M/s Moti lal & Banarasi Dass, publishers in Delhi have all these books available.
Pray to the Mother Saraswati shakti.... to help u guide in chosing the correct book needed for your spiritual progress

Chandogya Upanishad, Katha Upanishad, Sivapuranam, Vivekachudamani-Sankaracharya. etc etc, the list is infinite. If you want the essence of Vedas read Upanishad, if you want something from the eternal genuis of Sankaracharya read Vivekachudamani, Sivapuranam is very interesting to learn the creation, siva lila, and about Purusha.
