Well from a different POV.

I'm Wiccan & has exposed my daugher to Muslims, Bushists and various Xian sects. I've pointed outteh religious symbols to be respected AND my missionary (with my blessing) has given her a Children's bible so she can familiarise herself with an important part of the Social fabric.

This question is what scares me most about the christian lifestyle today, it is all about lieing to you. Isn't one of the main beliefs in christianity 'though shall not lie'? Then why would you ever keep lieing to your OWN CHILDREN about somthing like god. Im not saying god is real or not, i have NO IDEA, and either do any of you. Christianity has forgotton what religion is about in my opinion, it is all about tricking people into following the church ext. I dont see how so mayn people follow this religon it seems like i could come up with a better one on my own. Or maybe mankind has jsut ruined christianity over time by continuing to lie, weve found a way to ruin everything else...
My 17 year old best friend recently died, i have started to question christianity like i never have before. Before the tragedy i was a full blow christian like the rest of you, i would never do any kind of sin because i was so AFRAID of going to hell, and not getting into heaven. It seems to me that christianity is all about scaring you, not being a better person at all. Religon should be a giant group of people trying to make the world a better place, and discussing what they think MIGHT happen when they die. Christianity is a small group of weaseles who use Humanity's natural fear to make you believe in somthing that you might not otherwise, and then they TELL YOU whwat WILL happen when you die.

Just let me say that it is easy to be a christian when there is nothing wrong with your life. But when somthing bad happens its not so simple. Let your kids make their own decisions, let them think with their own minds rather tahn the churchs',
Their your own children do whatever you want with them, but in my opinion the truth is what i want to know, If i am destined to rot in the dirt than i would like to know that it is possible, if i am destined to live an afterlife in heaven or somthing then i would like to know that is possible to.

Don't discourage your kid's just inform them that Religon isn't for SURE, and anything can be possible.

I would definitely encourage them to find out for themselves what would make sense for them. In my experience, children who have had religion shoved on them, even in the most well-meaning way, end up resenting it. They end up resenting not only the religion itself, but the people who pushed it on them.
Secondly, if you allow a child to follow his or her own beliefs, all the while providing an atmosphere where God is talked about and trusted and faith is open, children will most often follow your example and find their faith.
Also, it is extremely important to allow the child to ask any questions they have about God or religion, because a lot of the questioning is purely curiousity.

Of course not, you never discourage children from asking questions. Answer their questions, you beliefs are your own but truth stands the test of time. People believe what they are comfortable with, but your beliefs don't change the truth.

i know the way you sense, perhaps no longer precisely the way you sense yet comparable. I felt the holy spirit as quickly as while i replaced into perhaps 12 and after awhile i began out to question my ideals and that one adventure replaced into the only element keeping me from leaving my faith in God. I felt like i replaced into lost and on my own, going to a Christan college the place anybody constantly gave the impression to be so specific. there are lots of people who question there ideals, its just some human beings hide it greater acceptable. Its good to question your ideals nevertheless, using fact once you think of your way is carefully top then you definately circulate away no room for boost and discovering, in the previous i began out thinking my ideals i replaced into only an ignorant christian who believed each and every little thing the church taught, yet i began out to seek for actuality and jointly as I nevertheless perhaps ignorant in some techniques I certainly have found out lots. the element is I certainly have strayed far off from my faith, in that i does no longer evaluate myself a Christian, yet I nevertheless believe interior the Bible and all it says, i will`t supply you an answer yet i will say this the bible in my view is an exceedingly rational e book yet chrisitnay isn't very rational. An occasion, the Bible provides a itemizing of nutritional meals rules, its says what to devour and to no longer devour, now the flaws it stated to no longer devour have been shown to be undesirable for you like the blood in an animal and its fats is forbidden and the two have been shown to be risky, Christianity teaches we can devour all that even nevertheless the Bible says no. Christianity has taken issues from paganism that have been forbidden interior the bible and tried to cause them to approximately God, even nevertheless God hates the way of pagans. I`m no longer attempting to grant you an answer only my opinion as you asked. I don`t choose you to settle for the flaws i stated somewhat study and study and undergo in concepts no rely what actuality you discover, constantly coach love even to thous who don`t share that actuality.

No. They should question everything.

How else can anyone learn?

I grew up "Catholic." We were even discouraged from reading the Bible!!!!! We might interpret it incorrectly.

It was considered a mortal sin to even read anything on religion that was not Catholic.

And unfortunately I was quite brainwashed for years.

Religious people hate questions.

My parents would discourage me from asking questions about things I learned in sunday school, like how did noah fit every single animal on the planet on one boat?

my mother frequently told me she was disappointed in my decision to stop going to church.

So IMO, although christians SAY they believe in free will - they really do not actually preach it. they will try and make their kids guilty about their decisions, their questions and so on.
