I zoomed in on a house I owned 5 years ago and saw both my cars on the driveway, so the answer is not very often.

Not very, there are images of places especially on Google Earth that date back to at least the late 90's, the more remote the area the older the picture, even places like London have pictures at least 3 years old though.

I realize this is no help or anything, But I thought that was a good question. I recently had downloaded Google Earth and turned/zoomed the globe to around my area and it told me the last time the photo had been updated/taken was in 2006. As you probably know, It is now 2009. Either my updater is broken, Or they're updating takes forever.

I have found places anywhere from 8 months, to several years old in cities. Country areas at least 5 years, maybe more.
It would be nice if there was a listing with date of last update. Its kinda crazy thinking they could/or should update daily though. I think at least yearly.

That's a good question.
My car is visible on my address, but I haven't changed it for years so the photo could be very old.
Imagine how useful it would be to see if someone was home before you paid a visit. In the wrong hands this could be a disaster.

I'm not sure. I heard it was going to be updated in 2008. One was to know for sure is to take a then and now print.

The aerial photos you mention will be updated this coming year.It is necessary to do this in order for your local council to reassess your council tax which will probably be under calculated due to any extensions you may have had recently. And all this because of muppets running our local councils.

You'll find that certain areas are more up to date than others - areas of military interest are well recent, but housing estates etc aren't!
