I lost count but I think its based on their respective denominations and how they interprete each one. More importantly is how well it suits their liberal lifestyle.

The bible did not exist in the 73 books as it does today in the beginning of Christianity. Christ gave the Deposit of Faith to the Apostles to guard, and charged them to go and PREACH the Gospel, not to spread the Gospel through written form. He never intended that people be instructed in the faith through the written word, for most for many years cannot read. This is important because the Gospel and the catholic faith was spread through the apostles and their successors teaching orally. For many centuries, people couldn't read, or the reading materials were prohibitive. The bible came only later, in 398 AD where it was decided at the Council of Carthage by an ecumenical gathering of bishops and the pope which books were inspired by the Holy Ghost. And even then, fromm 398AD till 1500's the bible was not widely available. It was only at 15th century when Martin Luther become the the first protestant who make the first changes as they take out the 7 books. And for now there are many different version of bibles whch some writtings doest match with the original........

Study the history. It is a very good and often asked question and almost no one who asks it ever goes to the next stage and studies.
I own
A HISTORY OF THE HOLY BIBLE, FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE WORLD TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CHRISTIANITY; WITH NUMEROUS NOTES RECONCILING SEEMING CONTRADICTIONS, RECTIFYING MIS-TRANSLATIONS, &c.
STACKHOUSE, Thomas. 1838

but as this is rare I would point you to the work of David Otis Fuller - if you want an answer then read his books.
I have an interest in this as one of my maternal ancestors was on the committee of those who translated the King James Version of the Bible. The article below refutes the idea that the KJV is the ONLY one to read and illustrates minor copyist errors but it should give sufficient clarity to suggest the KJV is the best. I hope this helps. There will always be controversy but the question is "Does the message in the Bible clearly show Christ was prophesied, He was Divine, was born of a virgin (not a "young woman") was crucified and rose from the dead?" The NIV clearly does NOT do this. The KJV and New KJV clearly do. That does not deny the ability of God to use even poor translations to give the Gospel message but some don't such as the Mormon and Jehova's Witnesses Bibles which deny the Divinity of Christ and He as the sole mediator to the Father.
Avoid Westcott and Hort translations.

The short answer: none, or any.

To answer this question well, we need to ask a more precise question: "Which bible is the most accurate translation of the original texts?"

Answering this is *far* more difficult than it might seem at first glance. Most bible versions are translated by scholars of *very* good reputation, the tops in their respective fields. In other words, which translation is best is a subjective matter. *All* modern, scholarly translations are *worthy* translations. Paraphrase versions, and translations which demonstrate poor or careless scholarship, should be avoided.

Thus, the best bible is the modern, scholarly translation that delivers the word of God to you most effectively. Here is a guide in this area:

As for which sect is "best", I feel that reading the bible first can help you in this area. However, finding a sect which conforms to the entire word of God (obeying all the New Testament commandments, without cherry-picking Old Testament laws willy-nilly) is difficult to find. I recommend, after reading a complete (unabridged) bible through at least twice, you read the Roman Catholic (RC) Catechism for a pretty thorough coverage concerning most Christian beliefs (the RCs have the largest body of doctrine of any sect). You should, of course, evaluate RC doctrine in light of scripture. At this point, you'll have a pretty good idea of what is reasonable and what is not. You will be able to attend church services and evaluate how well they adhere to New Testament commands, and you will also be able to evaluate their body of doctrine if their church services seem appropriate.

I have yet to find a sect with which I am satisfied, although there are many whose doctrines *approach* full compliance with scripture.

Modern biblical scholars agree that the only books of the new Testament that are written by a known author are the 7 Pauline epistles. All the other books including (Mark, Matthew Luke and John) are disputed and of unknown authorship!

Whats remarkable is that these Pauline epistles were written at least two generations after Jesus Christ walked on earth. the earliest dating can be placed around 50 years after Jesus.

If you then include the rest of the New Testament you get a bible written up to 200 years after Jesus!

If you take the most authentic NTauthor-Paul at face value you cant fail but get suspicious by a man who has openly declared he has been lying about God in order to convert the Gentiles to Jesus:

“But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?” (Romans 3:7)

Equally worrying is the fact that he never was a disciple nor saw Christ in his lifetime. From his letters it would appear he had regular run ins with the disciples culminating in Peter denouncing him as an apostate!

Dare we believe Paul's version of Christianity? His claim to have seen a vision of Jesus Christ and hence his conversion and mission o the Gentiles is also patently absurd. The Book of Acts contains three accounts of Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus. All of three accounts contradict each other regarding what happened to Paul’s fellow travelers.
1. they "stood speechless, hearing the voice..." Acts 9:7
2. they "did not hear the voice..." Acts 22:9
3. "when we had all fallen to the ground..."Acts 26:14
All from the same book of the bible!!

some contradictions in the bible:

Genealogy of Jesus (Mt.1 vs Lk.3)
Genealogy of Jesus (Mt.1 vs 1 Chr.)

Whom did the women see at the tomb?
Mt.28:2 (an angel)
Mk.16:5 (a young man)
Lk.24:4 (two men)
Jn.20:12 (two angels!)

How did Judas die?
Mt.27:5 (He hanged himself)
Acts 1:18 (He fell down and died after his intestines burst open)

We cant trust the bible because it was written two generations after Jesus by men with sectarian differences and heretical beliefs, which is why there are so many contradictions. Can we believe it as the basis of salvation? Absoluely not!

Which is why I have accepted Christ in Islam.

72. They do blaspheme who say: "(Allah) is Christ the son of Mary." But said Christ: "O Children of Israel! worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord." Whoever joins other gods with Allah,- Allah will forbid him the garden, and the Fire will be his abode. There will for the wrong-doers be no one to help.

" They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them.

Why turn they not to Allah, and seek His forgiveness? For Allah is Oft- forgiving, Most Merciful. (Quran 5:73-74)

There is one original bible. There are many other version mainly dreamed up by American religious sects.

Even the original bible was the work of man and compiled by man.

Since the catholic church was the original church any denomination, sect or cult that is not pretty close to that church must have watered down and changed their bible to fit their desires not their beliefs!!

One even says that the entire christian bible took place in America - WOW - and everyone one thought that the red Indians were savages in those days!!!!

None are right nor wrong.
The "Bible", a book written by humans, for human kind.
A guide for united, diverse, respectful balance with ALL and our connection to ALL. NO conditions, NO limits, NO Judgment.

"It is not the words that we remember, it is the EMOTION behind the words that carry impact."
Faith is a deeply personal method of Honoring your belief and connection.
Ego likes to keep us distracted from our Faith through "reasoning," "Logic", "Moral dilemma" and FEAR.
ALL limits and conditions created by humans, again, Ego, keeping us distracted from our true self. HEART!
You are correct, SO many versions of ONE book, and each believing their interpretation to be the only way. Passing judgment, turning backs, going to war and committing murder in the name of "God". ALL HUMAN CREATIONS, created out of FEAR and used to control, stripping away the individual, creating god "FEARING" christian(s){soldiers, "Onward christian solders!"}.
Follow your Heart, allow your connection to ALL shine with Light and accept your true self as worthy and deserving, Honor Faith with out limits or conditions and understand we are all seeking the same outcome.
Believe in your heart-self, here is Truth. Not the expectations or writings / re-writings of other humans.

Know the Bible. God will talk to you through His Word. Different Christian denominations are just different worship styles. Real Christianity accepts Trinity.

I like NIV.

Stay away from NWT ( Jehovah's Witnesses' Bible ) and the Mormons' Bible.

GOD will be in it, the Bible says to try the spirits to see if they be of God. The real Bible will speak of the blood that Christ shed for our sins. A lot versions don't. A lot of denominations (religions) will also leave the blood out. Life is in the blood. anybody or any group or anything that denies Christ and what he done while here on earth from birth, death and resseurection. and ascension back to the Father is not of god. Good Day

Well......
Basically walking the straight and narrow road was obviously too difficult for some humans walking on this planet.
Many religions and bibles were invented to revolve around mankind's comfort and mans needs and they put man on the throne.
True religions revolve around God on the throne.
