The Blues is real music, it comes from the heart. It requires life experience to fully appreciate it. Sometimes life ain't all that pretty, it is what it is. Blues is about staying strong regardless of what's thrown at you. You accept the hardships so you can truly appreciate the good times. Most of the kids don't like the Blues because they simply don't understand it. It doesn't speak to them...yet.

"You ever dream lucky, an' wake up cold in hand?"

The Blues tells what it means to be a Man, what it means to be a Woman, and how the two truly relate.
You can't expect people of any age who are still Children to understand no matter how grown they think they are.

Let's see , I am 51, and my father introduced me to B.B King before I was 10 yrs. old. Have loved the blues ever since. Go to a blues concert, or talk about blues music with a fellow blues lover, and you will see how how deep their loyalty and love of the blues is. As others have said, you not only listen too, but you feel what you hear. I think a lot of folks think blues is all sad, which is not true, some songs have made me laugh out loud, such as B.B.'s "How Blue Can You Get", or, "I Got Some Outside Help I Don't Need.
Who cares what other people like, as long you enjoy your blues, you're hooked for life.....like me!!

I agree with "Am M" -- the blues doesn't get airplay or television time. I've liked the blues since I was a young kid in the 1960s and 70s. And there's lot of young talent out there playing the blues, but if you want to made a good living in the music industry, you have to play a different type of music.

Most people do like Blues but don't know it. It's very simple, the most influential bands/artists of all time (The Stones, Zeppelin, Clapton, Aerosmith etc... all have heavy roots in blues. Most rock bands today have been influenced by these guys and carry that sound in one way or another and most guitar solos are rooted in blues scales. Again, the majority people don't have a clue where their music roots come from.

I'm a fan of Blues, it's a great genre of music and varies. Then again think of any genre and I guarantee I like at least one song of the genre:P
Good blues artists are:
Ray Charles
Fats Domino
Oscar Peterson(Done a bit of Blues, the master of Jazz though)
Lightnin' Hopkins
Floyd Dixon
Blues Brothers;)
Aretha Franklin(Best Soulful voice)
Santana
Jerry Lee Lewis(Bits of)

I am a blues lover, sing it live it and love it! that's what I do. most people who come to our shows are NOT 80 but a lot of college students and young people. Blues like music in general has to speak to the person for them to like it or love it...just like not everybody likes the same kind of food.

Blues really is music for adults, so people under 21 don't usually go for it unless it's got maybe real flash guitar.

It's certainly not true nobody likes it -- hell, it's been around long enough and everywhere I've been I've always found live blues music and fans.

Blues is where it's at!

How can anyone not like the blues... it's the roots of rock and rolll not to mention other sub-geners.. if it wasn't for the Blues, we'd be singing along to Christmas Carols all year long.

...I'm not sure that "nobody likes blues..." But I do know that "liking" blues requires more feeling the music than simply listening to it. So I guess that the people who don't like blues simply don't feel it.

Playing blues is deceptive - it's actually not all that complex a genre to play, but it can take quite a long time to play it with natural feeling. When you do, it seems like you've been playing it like that all your life.
