The Academies do not commission Nurses. there is an option under ROTC, but it's tough to get into.

your easiest way is to get the 4 year BSN(nothing else will suffice) then apply for a Direct Commission.

also look into UHSSP..Uniformed Health Science scholarship program. EXTREMELY tough to get into, but they pay your way through school in exchange for an obligated service period.

As a nurse, you could be stationed on an aircraft carrier, one of the two Hospital ships, or at Naval Hospitals around the globe. you could also find yourself in a field hospital with Marines.

Go to college, get your BSN and then join. You will come in as a commissioned officer. If you dont care about coming in commissioned, join up, go to basic, then off to nursing school.

Nursing in the Navy (army, air force) is no different then nursing in any other hospital. Yes, you may serve time in a ship hospital, but its more likely that you'll be serving stateside in hospital on base. Main difference you'll be wearing cammi's to work instead of white's.

I recommend getting the degree first, then getting commissioned.

There's something special about the uniform within the uniform.
