Starving yourself is the biggest mistake you can make. Your body just resets it's metabolism and burns fewer calories creating a vicious cycle. Cut out the junk food, sugary and fatty. Fill up on healthy food instead, fresh fruits and veggies, can of soup (not cream), whole grain cereal with skim milk, can tuna, yogurt, for example. Exercise is key too. It boosts your metabolism, burns more calories and fat, and builds muscle which will burn more cal. at rest. Turn on the radio for 30 minutes each day and just move. For some good eating ideas, check out "negative calorie" foods and the glycemic index. Turns out those rice cakes so many dieters scarfed down for years are no good for you! Good luck!

to loose wait the right way and to keep it off takes awhile. i did the jenny craig diet and it did work...very expensive but it taught me to eat 6 small meals a day. first i started at 1700 calories for a month then went to 1500 calories for another month until i was at 1200 calories. i had breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks in between. i exercised, of course, three times a week for 30 minutes doing cardio. it takes time, dedication and most of all patience. it is not easy. but you have to eat several small meals a day to loose wait. the reason behind that is your metabolism is then working for you. your body tells u that it will be fed in a couple of hours so i need to burn this fat. if u only eat once or twice a day your body says i need to store this because i don't know when i will be eating next. the key to loosing weight is eating.

The minimum calorie intake is 1200 calories a day. The wight loss depends on your current weight (the heavier you are,the initial weight loss is more substantial) and on the level of your physical activities (walk, swim ... etc). It takes approximately one month for a serious weight loss of 15-18 pounds (afterwards the wight loss will slow down on steady 10 pounds per month). Please don't forget that 1200 calories are to be from healthy grains, lean meat and fruits low in sugar (consider trying Glycemic Impact Diet for instance...)

Results? Like, how long will it take for your tightly packed fat to turn into loose flab? I dunno, flab is far worse than fat in my opinion. Ok, I take that back. They're tied for terrible.
Flab is one reason why nutritionists and dietitians insist on lowering your caloric intake by 3500-7000 PER WEEK (that's 1-2 pound per week). Skin takes time to adjust to losing density and when you go into starvation mode, your body doesn't make enough collagen to tighten up loose flab.

so really, if you end up starving yourself, you'll probably look worse than when you didn't.

Also, that urge to pig out? That's not going to be a problem if you decrease your caloric intake by 500 per day.

so take it slow.

First of all, look up the BMI (Body Mass Index) and see if you actually ARE overweight. BMI calculates your height, age and weight and produces a graph/map, showing if you are under weight, good weight, and overweight. Check that first, before someone tells you to starve yourself.

You can fight obesity (a lifelong addiction to food) by exerciseing and joining group's that are stimulateing to your life. If you try to fight obesity on your own-you will lose-it's a deadly disease that our society create's with the hi junk food system. I strongly advise you to find stimulation to exercise and study your nutritional need's as well, Start slowly and try to maintain your current weight-then study way's to cut food that is harmfull and replace it with nutritionally satisfying ones.
