You could talk to a school nurse or counselor, the nurse is probably the best bet. They could get you in to see a doctor, and let your mom know how serious it is.

It's possible to have hallucinations without having all the symptoms of schizophrenia (flat emotions, social withdrawal, disorganized thinking, etc.)

I'm not sure what a therapist would be able to do. You should see a medical doctor about this.

If you are under 18 and your mother refuses to take you to a doctor, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I was depressed since childhood. I even asked my parents to send me for some kind of treatment, but my mother (who was a nurse) didn't trust psychiatrists so I never got treatment until I was in my twenties. (I do believe my mother meant the best for me, though; that was back in the 60s and 70s and psychiatry has come a long way since then.)

Maybe you could start with talking to a school counselor or some other adult that you know can trust; such as an aunt, uncle, or neighbor that your mother is friends with. Maybe someone could advocate for you to help convince your mother that you should see a doctor.

I have had schizophrenia for 17 years. I have put together some of hte best information I have found in my yahoo group for schizophrenia. Please look at the links section there for some really good information that is cutting edge and very progressive. Psychiatry in the USA is very much behind Europe and Australia. That's because of the money motive in big business rewarding psychiatrists for pushing drugs on their patients, as well as they are the main ones educating the public. That God we have the internet and word is starting to get out about nondrug therapies. If yuo talk to the school nurse you may be forced to take drugs even if you don't want to. they have some very serious side effects. One drug made my kidneys fail. Another drug made me grow huge breasts and I am a skinny man. Another drug made me gain 80 pouinds in 30 days. They all made me sleep more. At first I slept 20 hours a day and couldn't help it. I would have slept all day if I didn't have to eat and wash. Even the newer medicines are like this that's why they call them tranquilizers. Also I lost part of my personality from the chemical lobotamy. I lost my sense of humor. There are nondrug therapies that are more effective than drugs considering the big picture and the long term outcome. My group has links with information on nondrug therapies. You can always see a psychologist instead and request nondrug therapy. Psychologists don't prescribe drugs. You don't have to see a psychiatrist who by law has to prescribe drugs, but know that you don't have to take them. You are blessed to have a mother who doesn't fall for nonsense that is psychiatry. Of course if it gets unbearable you can take drugs until you are ready to try going without them. You will find that there is a learning curve in learning to cope with the voices. It took me a long time and a lot of searching, but I eventually found what I needed, and it wasn't from my local mental health center. It was from the internet and exposure to international ideas on treatment. Here is the link to my group:

See schizophrenia, in section 40, at http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris and try to see a doctor ASAP, taking the results of the screening test, which is accessible through section 1: quizzes and tests. Visit your school counselor. Meantime, adopt what alternative treatments you can, and I'll provide a couple of techniques for treating anxiety: Practice one of the relaxation methods on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i, daily, and when needed. Also, give the EFT a good tryout, to see if it helps you. There is also a version for use in public places, (if you like, you can claim to have a headache, as you massage/lightly tap your temples). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o at * http://www.ezy-build.net.nz/~shaneris also refer: "Even though I sometimes suffer from anxiety, I deeply and completely accept myself."

I'm sorry to hear that. No one here can diagnose what you have, you need to go see a psychiatrist and take some tests. Tell your mom you're scared and want to get some help before you get worse, and tell her that it's not her fault. If she doesn't do anything, go see your school nurse and she will help. Get it treated before those voices in your head (might) start turning into hallucinations

how old are you? schizophrenia usually comes out around puberty . you've probably had the gene which was inactive and this gene gets active around puberty. factors such as alcoholic beverages and drugs are very direct factors that triger this gene to become active . that's why around puberty it becomes evident since most teenagers and young adults start doing some sort of drug/alcolo (which is normal)....

you need to see a doctor A.S.A.P because the symptoms get more severe as time goes by... it's not gonna get any better. your treatment will include medication that will keep your symptoms to a minimal level so you would be able to function normally.
i hope this info was helpful....but again, see a doctor , and it's sad to hear that your mother is trying to hide and deny your situation.......

Please...if your mother doesn't believe you, go speak with a school counselor, teacher, auntie, or other trusted adult and get yourself to the doctor for an evaluation. There are medications that can help with this..it's a medical condition and nothing to be embarrassed about. Your mother will need some guidance to help her understand what you have too. Good luck!!

You could be having schizoid episodes, which is not exactly schizophrenia, but could be the beginning. I've had those experiences while in manic mode of my bipolar disorder. They suck, they are scary, and it's worse when you know they shouldn't be happening. Seek out your counselor and have them talk to your mother about getting you diagnosed. Good luck!
