Why do parents turn a blind eye to their own children yet they are quick to point out (read on)?

...yet they are quick to point out the wrong doing of other people's?

Example: One child is a compulsive liar. Now, this person was doing a Bachelor degree at Uni. Why would they supposedly go for 3 years and not do the final week at school and take the exams? Her excuse was: Oh, I decided it wasn't for me. Wouldn't a normal person go that last week just to get the piece of paper? My theory is with the busy social life this person had (and the fact that rarely attended lectures) she wasn't really going to school...
EXAMPLE 2: This person has got at least 8 wisdom teeth out! Her mum keeps giving her money. Only sharks keep growing teeth like that!
And if I told you the huge whoppers they told, you'd never believe me!
FINAL COMMENT: This type of lying is a regular thing for this person. Everyone knows it but dear old mum. When dear old mum was presented with cold hard evidence on two occassions, she shot the messeger and sided with the liar.

She HAS the money so that isn't an issue. Mummy pays for everything and she never had to fork out for college. Even now she has a well paying full time job and mummy still pays the utilities, rent, bought the car, household furniture (including white goods). I mean, how can you go out drinking and to concerts every other night and still do a full time Uni load?

For Aloha: This has nothing to do with jealously. In fact, yes I work hard but it teaches me how to appreciate and value things. I don't condone lying or deception especially when I have seen it action time and time again and the people who have suffered from it. In fact, I believe the parenting has been party the problem and all the blame can't be placed on the girl. I even feel sorry for her.

It just comes naturally for some people.
I had 8 wisdom's though so that part wasn't funny! No kidding!
The piece of paper perhaps had to come with a test the person feared failing then would lose something? Maybe the person had loans or something else that would happen if they actually completed the courses?
Some people just prefer to shut the argument down or make excuses. They don't like anything bad said. I see it all the time in schools. Ironically the things the parents don't want to see as bad are repeated by the kids parents so maybe they don't like to acknowledge their own faults? Just a thought. Hope this helps.

Well, aren't you kind of doing the same thing? You're pointing out what's wrong with other people's on YA. Why aren't you focusing on your own kid's faults instead?
I'll go first: My three - year - old sometimes scratches himself in public. He has also been known to say very embarrassing things to others. Case in point: He asked a rather unattractive woman on the subway whether she was a man or a woman, and bragged to his entire nursery class, "MY daddy can go potty standing up!"
Baby #2 is causing me to eat whole lemons, which are giving me canker sores.
See, nobody's perfect. My kids are butt - scratching, canker sore - inducing little munchkins. Your friend's is a compulsive liar. But all parents think their children are the greatest; it's their job.

I always tried to be the opposite. Only when my kids were fully under control would I worry about other kids. In your story the mum sounds like my ex father in law. Reality will never be allowed to seep in.

Sounds like somebody is jealous that she has to work for what she gets and her friend gets everything handed to her on a silver platter. Get over it. It's none of your business.
