I think my parents did the best they were able to do with their own issues and problems. I would rather not focus on what happened because then I would use that not to take responsibility for the decisions I make and get on with my own life.

My mother makes poor decisions, and sometimes it's like I'm the mother instead of the daugher - but I've grown used to this over the years. My father is a very loving man though he can be rash and difficult to live with. We're very similar in that we're stubborn, and it got to the point where we can't live in the same house anymore. Though my father and I get into more arguments, I would rather live with him anyday and I regret deciding to be my mother's keeper. All in all, though, I think my parents have always tried to do their best with what they know to be best for my younger siblings and I. I love them very much, but sometimes they're quite the burden.

Sometimes lack of trust was an issue. They "knew" something because they were the parents & didn't put enough faith in my judgement at times. They were good parents. I try to not do that to my kids now but I know it will still happen. Circle of Life?
Hope this helps.

I've learned that our parents have done the best they could with what they had. My mom came from an abusive alcoholic home, and in turn I grew up with a crack-addicted mother and became an alcoholic (now recovering) myself. I have no kids, but I learned from her mistakes.

my parents have been good parents and brought us up well. I am 36 now and only complaint I have is that my mum still tries to control things, telling me (not advising) on how I should bring up my kids etc....but I know she has experience, but I also know her mother would not have done that to her :)

I think my mother has done the best she can do, even if she hasn't made the best decisions. My father on the other hand should be ashamed of himself, because no thanks to him, I have done very well for myself.

My parents are wealthy judgemental people who think their **** smells sweeter than everyone elses. I am ashamed of them! Not so much due to the mistakes they make but due to their continual snobby self righteous attitude that they won't change.
