This is a bit hypocritical- I don't think Mary swore like that.
I love the Blessed Mother very much and DO follow her footsteps, as I know they'll lead me closer to Jesus. I wear modest clothes (pants and t-shirts, mostly soccer stuff) especially considering my age (14) when most girls are toting their cell phones and trying to seduce guys, seeing who can wear the shortest "skirt" and the tightest shirt. I don't get it, honestly. I go to a Catholic school and yet few of the girls' values are any better than those you would find in a public, totally secular school. For me, the fact that few Christian women dress modestly (be it dresses or head scarves or pant suits, etc.) is a way to sort of tell who really is committed to God and who isn't. It's a sad thing, seeing how few women dress modestly, but it is nice to know that there are others out there - scarce as they may be - that still keep Him a priority.
However, our religious sisters and nuns [Catholic] wear habits and long veils. There are some orders that don't anymore, and I am against their changing to make the habit optional. The orders that have kept the habit and veil make a physical statement that they follow Mary. When I get older, I hope to do so myself.

Because they do not need such an exalted role model. Most women know exactly what to do.
Besides I do not think Mary is such a goor role model. After all the church has created the impression that she is pure and thus normal women are unclean.
If women want to wear a scarf, no problem. I am the last person to interfere with vestimentary details. Everybody wears (or does not) whatever he/ she likes. It is another story when women are forced to wear the scarf on punishment of being treated as whores by street gangs. And still another story when they try to wear the scarf inside class rooms, thus denying the right to other students to approach everybody as equals. And of course, women should never wear a scarf when they work in a public office. I do not say they are prejudiced, but every public office should do its utmost best to avoid even the smallest impression of prejudice.

Let us look to the words in the Gospel of John.
John 2:5
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
Mary the mother of Jesus told the servants that serve to do as Jesus instructs.
As a servant, male or female, a Christian follows the instruction of Jesus not Mary.
Following a path of extrapolation, convoluted and imagined is called Marianism. This is an aspect of the Roman Catholic faith and is considered pagan by non-Catholics.
Mary loved God Almighty and follow the customs and Laws that stem from the Abrahamic Covenant. Therefore you ask why do Christian women not follow laws and traditions very similar to the conservative women of the Judaic faith.

Did you know Mary personally or are you a friend of a friend of a friend.....etc. Because it's kind of hard to know what someone wore who died 2,000 years ago unless you were there to see it. As far as I know, no where in the Bible does it say exactly what Mary wore. Assuming that Mary wore the customary garb of the day doesn't cut it either. I mean, we're talking about a woman who got pregnant out of wedlock here, she may have chosen to go without the head scarf for all we know.
By the way, if wearing modest clothes is what encouraged God to "plant His seed", then count me out. That kind of stuff is just unnatural. Isn't that type of behavior what drove God to kill the first humans in Noah's flood? If God's sons aren't allowed to impregnate human women, then why is God allowed? Yeah, yeah I know, He's the boss and if He wants to get every woman on the planet pregnant then who am I to judge, right? It must be nice to have all the power!

Many people do not know what the commitment to Christianity means. They have an exaggerated notion of freedom. The women wear immodest attire, and then wonder why some male has tried to take advantage of them. What fools we mortals be. It is in the Christian writings from the time of the Church fathers about what expected of womankind in this matter, but it is ignored. What is this a sign of? It is a sign that we are commited to natural, not supernatural ideals.

How do you know what she wore since no-one alive today ever saw her alive and there are no pictures of her around. Get a grip. She did dress modestly for the times and we are asked to do the same. That does not mean that women must cover their entire bodies and hide their faces.

I know of no rule that says they must,or must not, do such. I guess it's up to the individual person. I do think personal respect and pride need to be observed.

I hate how you're trying to make them dress how you dress. I'm not a christian but you're being like one trying to make them accept and do what you do.
