The answer is two female dinosuars scissored each other and both females laid an egg and the eggs hit each when coming out and out came the chicken which makes the answer the egg!

Two different species had to mate thus making what we call the chicken today, two different species mated, neither a chicken, they lay an egg and a chicken is hatched from it.

Agnostic would say the chicken for the obvious reason of creation.
Athiests would say the chicken also for reasons of evolution...so either way...CHICKEN!
