God does not depend on our opinion,we may depend on His Grace, though! He exists in spite/despite ourselves! If He does not exist,I would not have been here or would you be asking the question, that is the proof! For,
The very essence of all life, the stuff with which all beings are made of and sustained - there must be something like that, you know - that is God.The Science,Physics in particular has come to the conclusion that there is a single source for all creation and whose brilliance is almost immeasurable as it has created with such perfection and made it to work with such clockwork precision! As an example I will mention only one work of a Physicist: Mani Bhouwmick - Code Name God.

There is some extrordinary force existing in the universe, which had produced it and is controlling it. I think there is no mistake in taking it to be GOD by giving Him some appearance. Surely,a positive vibration from us will return in a positive vibration from others....You love God,he will love you

Here is what I want you to do. Go outside at night and look at the stars. God said that he put each one in its place and hung it on nothing. Is that what you see? He also said that the stars, moon and sun is a calander and clock, for keeping track of times and seasons. Is that not true? Then I want you to think about this. Look at the earth. See how it is made. Do you see the beauty in it? Then look at all the life that is on it, from plant to man. Is this by chance or by devine love? No other planet has life on it. Only this one. The universe, This planet, and life all give testimony to to glory of God. Does it not?

The same question was put to Ramakrishnaparamahamsa by Swami Vivekananda when he first met his guru and later on we all know the story of Vivekananda. Your question is similar to that. God exists and there are great realised souls who have seen the God. For instance Ramakrishna, Vivekananda,Ramanamaharshi,Saibaba of Shiridi,Paramahamsa Yogananda,Lahrimahasaya,Chaitanya mahaprabhu,Saint Thukaram, so many other great souls in the 20th century they have all realised god, they are all house hold names in every city and villages in India. If you want to know how,, you have to search for Him by severe sadhana -Thapas. It is not an easy task.

Man created God in man's image. Eventually. Initially, God was the sun/moon/stars. Then God was fire. I find it incredible that in this modern age, people still worship something invented by neolithic men.

I could write all day to try to answer your question but the best thing you should do is 1Read the Bible. 2.Go to Church. 3.Talk to the minister and ask your questions. 4.Listen to and watch some Christian programs. 5.Get a daily devotional book (many Church's give them away for free) 6.Christian magazines/books would help. 7Join a Bible study group on such topics. 8.Pray.

I asked my friend, “Have you really thought about some of the evidences for God? Or, are you presupposing a purely naturalistic world, and closing your eyes to some of the possible evidence? If I propose some observational evidence, are you even open to examining it?”
My friend asked me to go on. So, here’s my attempt at some basic scientific observations that point to God:
* Causation. God provides the best explanation for the existence of the universe and all that's in it. (The alternative theory is that "nothing" exploded and resulted in everything that we see.)
* Order. God provides the best explanation for abstract notions such as numbers, mathematical formulae, chemical-based processes, and natural laws. (The alternative theory is that the chaotic first elements ordered themselves into complex information systems.)
* Design. God provides the best explanation for the absolute complexity inherent in cosmological, stellar, planetary, chemical and biological systems. (The alternative theory is that random chance engineered apparent design.)
* Encoded Instructions. God provides the best explanation for the digital DNA code contained in and controlling the functions of all life on earth. (The alternative theory is that complex code, such as binary code running computers, can pop into existence without any kind of programming, testing and debugging process.)
* Irreducible Complexity. God provides the best explanation for fully functioning biological organisms, systems, and subsystems that couldn’t come about through gradual evolutionary process without totally ceasing to exist at lower, evolutionary levels. (The alternative theory is that biological systems took huge, unseen leaps from simple to complex without any guided process or forward-looking instructions.)
* Duality. God provides the best explanation for the separate human functions of brain and conscience (matter and mind). (The alternative theory is monism -- only matter exists and the human brain only appears to have a separate subconscious ability.)
* Morality. God provides the best explanation for the existence of love, emotion, altruism, and inherent moral/ethical values throughout the world. (The alternative theory is that unguided materialistic processes evolve higher human consciousness.)

No, because any god that would allow evil to happen would be an evil god and any god that couldn't do anything about evil would be impotent.
Also, the Greeks believed in their gods, like Zeus and Aphrodite, as much as Christians believe in theirs. They can't both be right, so they both must be wrong, because the Greeks came first.
