I'm canadian, and totalled my car in montana. I've got a rental now, but canadians can't drive a US car into canada. Greyhound doesn't have a good route to get back, and I can't afford to fly.

How can I get from montana to alberta in my circumstance?

You are allowed to drive a rental car into Canada as long as the rental company has a branch in the city that you are heading....but it'll cost you more cuz friend of mine did that once he drove all the way from Chicago to Toronto with a rental car I think you should call the car rental company(ies) (I gave you few links below) to get more info....good luck

As a Canadian you can drive a rental car into Canada - I have done it. You will have to rent from a company that has an office where you are heading. Contact a rental company in Canada at your destination and ask them for the closest office to you in the US. However, when you consider the cost of the rental and the gas and time, you may find that it is actually cheaper to fly. Best of luck.

Sorry, pal. If we were coming there, we'd pick you up. If you need the Calgary area, try going on www.usedcalgary.com and placing a wanted ad that you're trying to find a ride. Maybe someone coming there can scoop you on the way back. Good luck, fellow Canadian, and sorry we can't help you out.

Ask the rental agency about this...surely you would be allowed to drive a rental car into Canada...YOU do not OWN that car...it is just a rental. They may have dealt with this problem before.

the cheapest would be to look for a ride on craigslist.

other than that, if the suggestions of others don't pan out, call the Canadian consulate for advice. Greyhound is possible, but you may hsave to go via Seattle...waaaay out of the way.

If you're near a college/university, you can also see if they have a rideshare board. Or, if Montana has no casinos (I don't know), you can look at conmmunity bulletin boards/newspapers to see if there are any bus trips to a Canadian casino, and go one way.
