According to Ashton Kusher in "Guess Who?" he says that he loves her because she is everything that he is not(his oposite). That with her he is whole. Without her he is only half. and he wants to be whole. I loved that quote!!!! But I think that it's better to have a balance. Some very important things in common and some things different. Just enough of each to make an exciting but trustworthy lasting relationship.
Good Luck in LOVE, LIFE and HAPPINESS!!! and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not attracted to opposites. I am however attracted to similar personality types with interests or hobbies I've never tried.
As in I could not date a complete sports fanatic, or someone who had the mindset "if the movie is already coming out why read the book?". As a person who loves solitude and quiet I also could not be with a loud mouth, or constant chatterbox.
For me it's all about common.

Well I do think you should have something in common like basic values, moral codes and similar ethics are vital to having a sound and well balanced relationship.
Utimately though opposites tend to attract me more. When I say opposite I do not mean it in an ethical way. I mean it more like in personality not character. Like someone who is more shy should be with a more outgoing person so that way they are more balanced when together. The outgoing person can help the shy person combat their shyness and the shy person who is more softspoken can provide some modesty and wise views for the outgoing person. Ying yang idea i guess

I think it is absolutely crucial to have values in common and have similar life goals, or rather, compatible life goals. But if you are completely the same in terms of interests, knowledge, etc. that would be boring.

I'm married to an "opposite" and believe me, it's stressful!!! I agree with the person above me, you have to have similar values, interests, and goals, but you also have to be willing to be somewhat independent.

it's better to have a balance.... you want to have things in common, but you also want to have some things different. If you both had everything in common, you're just dating yourself.
