Bantam chicken eggs.

When a green egg is sitting on the table by itself, we cannot tell that it's green. It looks okay. But when we put all the eggs in a basket, we noticed that some of the eggs look normal and some of them have a slight greenish tone. Why is that? Is my chicken sick or is this natural? We are afraid to eat the green eggs, because we don't know what's causing this. Maybe one of my chickens is sick????

What kind of chicken is it? Araucana (Americana) chickens or The Easter Egg chicken do lay green, blue, or pink eggs. The link will take you to a picture. If you don't have an Americana then I'm sorry I have no idea.

There is nothing wrong with the bird...eat the egg.
If you raise chicken for eggs you would noticed that sometime the egg is oblong or huge like an ostrich egg, right? Well, if an egg is greenish color then there is nothing wrong with the egg.

Also would you eat a pink or blue egg? The answer should be for you to answer. If you feed your chicken right and no contamination in the chicken feed, the eggs should be ok. I eat eggs that had a few blood at the yolk, and I am fine. If it cause you to worry then you need to take it to a doctor or a scientist to examine it.

Its perfectly normal It depends on what breed the hen is
My girl friends chickens lay blue eggs trust me its okay and if the eggs are hard to crack open that means you have very healthy chikens Ever buy eggs from the store and the shell is so thin you can almost see through it? Cracks real easy thats mass produced sickly chickens. An color hens lay white, brown, light green, blue.... Main thing is the shell is nice and hard!

There is nothing wrong with the bird. It is a rare chicken which is producing green eggs. I've seen them and I've a friend who is hatching the eggs. Try to advertise your green eggs and see how many people are interested in the bird.......

first of all, don't take them away, they get enticed to lay more, i know from experience. but that may be the type of bird that just wants to have kids. i had a bird like that once and there were really only a few options to choose from. 1, get that female a male and be prepared to sell the baby birds, or 2, if you don't have the time to breed birds, take it to a breeder you can totally trust. And believe me, it does take a while for a female bird to loose interest in her eggs. but if you notice her leaving them constantly, go ahead and take em' out, she'll have lost interest in them by then. but take the eggs out one at a time and when she wont notice that you took them out, it'll reduce the shock for the bird.

The hen may have gotten something to eat that had green dye in it or there may have been some green coloring in the feed. If you fed your hens ground colored chalk with their food they would lay colored eggs. There is nothing wrong with the eggs, they are fine. As they will eat about anything that is on the ground there is no telling where she may have gotten this from but I promise you that she is not sick and different types of chickens do lay different colors of eggs also.
