Look around for PSR (psychosocial rehabilitation) and Case Management services in your area. They are billed to Medicaid, and if your friend has a mental health diagnosis and limited income he will most likely qualify.

PSR is provided by private companies contracted by Medicaid. You can find them in the phone book or through whatever government health and welfare agency is is in your town. PSR will address all the areas you have mentioned. There are probably several companies in your area, so if one does not seem to be helping, try another one.

There are several options for you to help you friend. You can contact the Adult Protective Services office in your community and ask them to help you get him into a group home living situation. They can help him with daily meds, meals, personal hygiene etc. And since he is on SSI, that will help pay for his room and board and usually give him some money for any field trips that the home may go on. Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

Probably an assisted living center might be the kind of thing that he needs, or possibly a nursing home or similar institution. I think you should call a social worker and find out about programs in your area.
