Polygamy mentioned in the New Testament? Is polygamy really only allowed in the Old testament?

Christian churches generally teach that polygamy was only allowed in the old testament but Jesus changed the law and no says that polygamy is a sin, this is also assumed that having women on the side or concumbines is also included with polygamy as well. In 1 cor 7:2 it seems to imply even more supposed evidence of this by saying "each Man should should his OWN wife, and wife her OWN husband" that word "OWN" supposidly is implying "only one" but if you look at the greek on each occasion on that word "OWN" there are entirely different meanings of this word. for the man's part that word "own" only means "his or himself" so that word "own" should not be there. but for the womans side that word literally means "one own" so it should say this this "each man has his wife, each woman has her OWN husband". in the old testament men could have many wives but women not allowed to do this. Why is Paul seeming to imply here that polygamy is ok? why are christian churches saying that polygamy is bad

Polygamy wasn't specifically forbidden in the NT...it was simply rare in the Culture...it was expressly forbidden centuries later...

Polygamy is never commanded in all of the Bible.In Deuteronomy 17:17 it is expressly commanded of a king of Israel to not multiply wives for himself least his heart turn away from God. That is exactly what happened to King Solomon who had hundreds of wives and many concubines. Some of the wives Solomon took were followers of pagan god and in his old age Solomon also followed his wives gods (see 2 Kings 23:13). The 1 Cor 7 scripture you mention uses the word wife not wives which should also put the context with "own' as being singular. The same goes for "own
husband" (not husbands). Timothy states a bishop or pastor should have one wife in 1 Tim 3:2. Titus 1:5-6 says an elder must have one wife as well.

Jesus tells us that spiritually his bride is the church and so a man should love his wife as He, Christ, loves the church. Jesus only has one bride and so a man should also follow that example as well in the natural.

actually, polygamy is bad in the OT too. god made adam and eve, not adam and eve and sarah. the first appearance of polygamy is from Cain's descendant, lamech, who took two wives in the hopes that the curse god put upon adam and eve after their first sin ( that eves desire would be only for her husband) would break for him. the origin of polygamy is infact a defiance of gods word.
