Well, I guess they would go down in the history book as as the best scammer that ever lived. I wouldn't feel terribly stupid as I wouldn't be the only one who was duped. I would perhaps feel very, very angry for a while but eventually I would have to get a bearing on the facts, deal with them (make peace) and move on. No theory perserverance here LOL. I guess, I would still keep my baptism certificate because it would be a handy teaching tool I could use it to educate the next generation who was not born in times when God was prevailent. I am not a nihalist (ie they believe being has no meaning) and like most others I would still need to hold on to the other qualities that are intrinsicly important to me (honesty, integrity, ethics) and fill the void in my life that God once had with something else that shapes my existence. Society cannot run efficiently without order and people often need hope (even if it is no longer faith driven) and comfort. Something else would have to shape societal norms, folkways, mores and sooth our insecurities and uncertaintly about the future and the new uncertainty etc. The fallout of this could potentially be bigger than any of us could imaginge. Perhaps it would be the start of WWIII as people may not only be outraged but may feel it is a licence to do whatever they please and our crime rate and violence would sore %1000! Lastly, I'd have to make sure my Priest was ok because he would have been duped too. It's not his fault and I'm sure he'd be feeling a hec of a lot worse than I.

I am not Christian, but most believers will just say "It is not going to happen". That is very annoying, because the idea that God exists is not a FACT, it is a belief. You guys need to look up the definition of fact. Why is it so hard for you guys to answer this question? It is not going to change your beliefs, this is just a hypothetical question. You can't say "It is not going to happen", because you don't know.

Based on what I have seen, I would spend a lot of time online being a smug condescending atheist, desperately trying to gratify my over sized ego my ridiculing others beliefs.

I have to go out on a limb here, Stubborn Cat, and say that there is no way, short of amnesia, would I ever think that God is not real. And even so, I am not sure my amnesiac self would fully accept atheism either. Once a person knows of God, that knowledge is stuck there forever, whether one acknowledges it or not. IMO.

i wouldnt believe it. i may not have as much faith as other believers but i do have enough sense to know that god does exist after having heard him speak to me and after feeling enormous amounts of peace during my darkest moments. even if someone found evidence that couldnt be disproved, i cant deny what i know in my heart. oh and a good book to read to research christians who wouldnt deny god even to the point of unspeakable torture and death is Jesusfreaks by DCTalk.

the chance of that happening is slim to none. you think god is going to come down and say, "hey it's me, god." more importantly, what could inform us god isn't real. the only thing that could do that is an explanation of the stars being created by some other phenomenon.
i'm agnostic, and i guess i would just change my viewpoints, nothing more.

After having lived 30 years experiencing His reality, I doubt that I would ever come to such an absurd realization.
What would YOU do tomorrow if you realized that God IS REAL, and NOT an invention of people?

Many Christians have a difficult time with hypothetical questions. Just look at the responses here that refuse to accept the premise for the basis of their answers.
People ask what would convince me that god truly exists. While I am not sure, I am certainly open to any tangible evidence. I do not know what evidence would convince me because I believe it is impossible to prove the existence of god. What evidence would convince you that god does not exist? See the conumdrum: it is difficult to answer their question! See falsifiability (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falsifiability ) and Rules of Evidence (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rules_of_evidence ) for more information.
Do not quote bible passages as evidence of god's existence. This is my standard of proof, not yours. However, if proof were proffered that convinced me god exists, I would change absolutely nothing in my life or my behavior. The existence or not of god does not matter. Like many humans I live a purposeful life and god does not add more purpose.
What if evidence were produced that convinced you god does not exist with certainty (evidence according to your standards of proof)? What would you change in your life?
- Would you stop evangelizing?
- Would you start sinning more?
- Would you stop helping those less fortunate than you?
- Would you feel that life is meaningless?
