I had a severe case about 5 years ago. The hospital sent me home telling me drink plenty of fluids and just wait through the virus. All the vomiting and diarrhea is necessary due to the bodies need to pass the virus. It sucks, and depending how bad you have it, you will be dead tired the following day. Drink Gatorade for the needed electrolytes.

Well i would not recommend you go to the hospital yet. Unless your under recommended weight before you got sick their should not be any major problems besides the vomiting and diarrhea. While dehydration is a risk its not likely to be that serious. Drink gatorade to replace electrolytes and possibly something to help prevent the diarrhea. Take antinausea medicine such as phenergan if you have some for the nausea. This is prescription only and will most likely make you sleep for several hours. If you do go to the hospital you will wait for hours because you are not a high risk patient and all you will get is a iv with saline infusing possibly lactate ringers depending on your blood labs. Im a nurse. If you notice major issues then by all means go to the hospital but you should be fine in a day or so.

try to keep your fluids up. Little sips of water or if you can tolerate it try a drink with electrolytes (you or your partner can get it from the chemist).
Give your doctor a ring and get a script for some maxalon or something similar it stops the nausea and vomitting. If you can't tolerate anything by mouth she/he can get a shot that will do the same thing.
When you are this sick its important to avoid becoming severely dehydrated. Seek medical attention if you get the following warning signs of dehydration:- severe headache, feel dizzy with fast pounding pulse. Do a pinch test on the inside of your wrist. If the skin stays up and doesn't return back to its 'pre-pinched' state give your doctor or health clinic a ring.
Hope you get well soon.
If you don't get dehydrated, the best thing is to just let nature take its course and 'sit' it out.

THAT happened to me a little over a year ago from bad chicken! GO TO THE HOSPITAL NOWWWWWWWWWWW.
Your also dehydrating yourself. Yes, you have food poisoning I believe. Did it all come on at once, to where you didn't know to sit on the toilet, or hover over it? That's how I was, severe diarrhea and vomiting uncontrolable all at the same time.
Grab a bucket and go to the ER, NOWWWW.
yes, the dry heaves in between really hurt your stomach muscles don't they? Mine sure did. Get going!!!!!!
They hooked me up to an IV and ran solution and nausea meds into me for hours before I came out of it, after they've got you hooked up for about 1/2 hour you'll be glad you listened to me. Please go right now, omg, that is horrible s hit to go through I know. Go NOW and get feeling better soon!
People telling you Pepto and stuff, they've never suffered this I see. You won't keep pepto down so don't even try that, just go now.

It may just be a stomach virus instead of food posioning. I would give it 24-48 hrs, and if you are still having the symptoms then i would get medical treatment. Just try and drink fluids, i know its hard to when you are nauseated, but you dont want to get dehydrated. Also, when you start to eat again, AFTER the vomitting and diarrhea have stopped, you need to start with bland food, such as broths, crackers, ect.

go to the emergency room. seriously, why are you waiting
im not trying to be rude, i always get thumbs down from people no matter what i write so i really dont care anymore but i had this same thing and you need to get to the ER or doctor ASAP.
Water and Gatorade help, esp the gatorade if you vomiting, but drink it in sips. plain toast in little bits are good to test if you are getting better also.
avoid any dehydrating stuff and or smoking etc...
the reason im telling you to hurry up is for your safety. i hope you're ok, best .
on a side note, i want Yahoo to list who gives people negatives so we can get them tossed on here, i want to know who is negativing what i write. are people asking these questions just to thumbs down people? or are jackassses giving free reign because they have no lives and are addicted to being idiots.
ive looked at the responses on here and almost everybody giving you good advice has more thumbs down than up, now that is pretty pathetic.... must be people who want others to die or be sick... sad... really....

Go to the hospital. Vomiting and diarrhea can cause dehydration, which can make you VERY sick. In addition, they may be able to give you an antibiotic or something to counteract the food poisoning.
