This question is an often one, so that's my cut & paste answer:
1). 20GB has no chrome trim, no memory card reader and no wi-fi. Not manufactured anymore. Has the best backwards compatibility with PS2 games due to Emotion Engine (PS2's CPU) and Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU) installed.
2). NTSC 60GB has the same backwards compatibility as 20GB version, also has memory card reader and wi-fi. Has a chrome trim.
3). 80GB - extended memory, but reduced backwards compatibility with PS2 games, it has only Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU). Around 80% of PS2 games can be played. Available only in NTSC regions.
4). 40GB - can't play PS2 games at all (all PS2 chips were removed), has 2 USBs instead of 4, no memory card reader, has wi-fi. Avalable in black and white colors. White is on sale only in Japan. Uses 65nm technology (lower power consumption). Improved cooling system. It's the latest version. 40GB doesn't support SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc).
5). PAL 60GB - reduced backwards compatibility with PS2 games. it has only Graphics Synthesizer (PS2's GPU). Around 80% of PS2 games can be played.
Wi-fi included in all models, except 20GB.

80 gig of course. More memory = more games and if you update your ps3 then you might have more options. I'm not sure how much memory space each game takes, but maybe pics will take up memory. Depending on how many games you plan on playing, the 40 gig is good if you don't play much.

The 60GB has full backwards compatibility with PS1/PS2 games, has a 60GB hard drive, 4 USB ports, and flash card readers. (though it has been discontinued for months, and they are hard to find.)
The 40GB PS3 can NOT play PS2 games (though it can play PS1 games), has a 40GB hard drive, 2 USB ports, and no flash card readers.
The 80GB can play most PS1/PS2 games, has an 80GB hard drive, 4 USB ports, and flash card readers.
-----------------------------------
Each game will take up different amounts of space on your hard drive, most games though take up around 256MB on your hard drive, which isn't noticeable at all. The hard drive is more to store content such as movies, music, and pictures, not only game saves. Example; I have 10 full length movies and 26 game trailers on my PS3, and I still have tons of space.

Youtube XL grow to be rather designed for the PS3 and Wii because it searches movies plenty speedier and makes use of much less memory to load the pages, yet as i would be sure you do no longer prefer to apply it, its basic, bypass to the backside left and click customary version, and each thing must be back to commonly used.
