I am Seventh Day Adventist, and my family strongly believes in the Sabbath. God rested on the seventh day after creation, and the fourth commandment says to "keep the Sabbath day holy". It was a day that God gave to his people so that we may rest, and focus all our attention on worshiping him and spending time with him.

When Jesus rose on early Sunday(the first day of the week) that was then forever called the Lord's day,as in Revelation 1 and in Acts.Paul would spend the Sabbath's (Saturday) preaching to the Jews and then say lay up what money you can for the gathering on the first day of the week.
In Collosians 2 he says all those Old Testament Laws were shadows of the figure of Christ. Now that He has come let "No man judge you on what you eat ,or drink or on sabbath days."
The Sabbath was for rest.It was to teach us to rest in the finished work of Christ.Since we do,we "Sabbath " everyday.I mean please,do you wear linen and wool?Do you bring your "firstfruits" (your 1rst paycheck of the year) and give it to the church? Are you tithing 30% not just the beginning 10%.After all your tithes are in are you buying yourself some wine or strong drink as the Bible suggests?
There are 613 laws and statutes.James says (and he was pretty much an old law keeper) If you want to live by the law you have to keep all of it.A miss is as good as a mile.
Me? I'm free in Christ Jesus. You graze and I'll have steak and eggs.

The Sabbath was the token of the Mossaic covenant, or the old covenant. Circumcision was the token of the Abrahamic covenant, the rainbow was the token of the Noahtic covenant and the resurrection is the token of the new covenant. The sabbath as a law was never meant for Gentiles, only for the Israelite community. You will not find one bit of Scripture where the New Testament Church is told to keep the Sabbath. If you keep the Sabbath, do you keep the whole law? According to Jewish law, if you do anything that can be construed as "work", you have broken the Sabbath.
Gal 4:21 Tell me, those desiring to be under Law, do you not hear the Law?
Col 2:16 Then do not let anyone judge you in eating, or in drinking, or in part of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths,
Col 2:17 which are a shadow of coming things, but the body is of Christ.

God said to keep it...He never changed that. Who am I to argue with my Creator? He rested on the Sabbath day and made it holy. Ex.20:8-11 The words He has spoken He will not change. Ps. 89:34. He says if we love Him to keep His commandments. Jn. 14:15 He also says that the ones who will go into heaven will be keeping His commandments. Rev. 22:14. Jesus is our example and He kept the Sabbath. Lk 4:16.

that is a very interesting point, that God 'sanctified" that is set apart the 7th day. your point might have merit ifthere weren't so many passages (Exodus 31:13,Exodus 31:16,Leviticus 24:8 and on) speaking of the Sabbath covenant with Israel.
if you are coming from the 7th day adventist view that you MUST keep the sabbath, i can only say
Colossians 2:16
So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.
Christ is our rest, not a day

*The Sabbath is Saturday
*It was not a law given to the Jews but a time of rest for all mankind instituted at the time of creation
*It was not 'removed' Jesus said He did not come to remove any of God's instruction- Jesus observed Sabbath perfectly and those that truly FOLLOW JESUS will follow Him in hte observation of Sabbath
*we do not observe Sabbath for our salvation but because we are saved, because we trust God and His instruction and will for our lives- observing Sabbath brings blessing to those who are saved.
*Jesus is not the end to the law, Jesus IS the law - what is the purpose of grace , the need for grace if there is no law- God gave His perfect instruction, and He gave the way to walk in it perfectly- Jesus is the way, the truth and the life- preaching and end to the law is preaching a lawless and false Jesus.
*observing the Sabbath is not a burden- Jesus said His yoke is easy and His burden light, yet He observed Sabbath- we are not to observe it burdened down by man's laws and ideas but through the Holy Spirit, abstaining from unneccessary work and dwelling in His true and perfect rest.
*Failing to observe Sabbath will block blessings, life and life abundantly here on earth- it will open doors to stress, anger, irritability, loss of good health- observing Sabbath opens the doors to God's blessings, life abundant as Jesus lived and taught it!
*I would like to add, a lot of people seem to equate Sabbath with a day to worship- this is a false teaching also- Worship is a way of life- we should worship and live out our faith EVERY day- we should live lives that are constantly worshipping. Sabbath is a day of rest and refreshment- yes we can worship on that day- our focus will be even moreso on God and our relationship with Him- but it i not aobut worship and church - yes, those things can be done any and every day- Sabbath is a time when all believers are united in abstaining from uneccessary work and allowing the Spirit of God to refresh our bodies, minds and spirits in preparation for the tasks set before us in the week to come.
Simply put- if Jesus is our rest, and Jesus observed Sabbath and did not remove the law and is alive today - He still observes Sabbath- if He is at rest and we are at work- then we are not 'in Him' and we are not in our rest

The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath
He said that when He was healing someone on the Sabbath and the religious hierarchy said you are disobeying God's law to work on the Sabbath.

I really respect 7th day Adventists. And God is not concerned with what day you worship him. As Joey cited the Christians used Sunday since that was the day of his resurrection. And Jesus did come to start a new work; a creation of a body of believers to follow Jesus. But that is really immaterial. Especially if Jews are allowed to follow their rituals to worship God. And Christians have different denominations from which to worship the same God.
Be well.

I'm ambivalent about it, but as a contemplative I see it as very valuable if it is actually experienced as such. It's interesting that Sunday worshipers believe Sunday is the sabbath, yet they do not even honor that day as a sabbath which leaves me scratching my head.
