Don't attempt to catch trout like that.it is probably illegal as well. Most likely you will waste your time. Get a rod and reel and some powerbait and a few small hooks. This is much more fun. Do some reading on how to fish. Good Luck!

you could try throwing fish pellets out till they rise to eat it they like to hit mornings and evenings nears the dark and light so feed them corn or baits like fish pellets from purins now they are used to you and your shadow and the food place the trap witht the food in it make a trail if possible or look up jug fishing or trot lines we used to string a line wit hooks all the way across the a stream then bait with corn and worms and tied flys that sank and then checked the baits morning and night also check the fish and game laws are you allowed to trap or gig or bowhunt fish how close to a dam are you see there a set of rules on line for your state game wardens office and heres a hint the best fishing guides in the state are Game wardens why they know most of the places to fish and hunt they hunt folkes who kill indiscriminately for deer and other game and fish so call the local warden and ask if he could show you some tricks to getting fish or hunting

Worms, dead bugs, live bugs, cheese bits, etc.
Trout eat what floats past the eyes. Once in a while they will pick at submerged, stationary bait, but they tend to hit the moving flies and lures more than a bait with a bobber sitting in one spot forever.
If you can, regularly throw in to them in your trap spot still alive insect larvae such as grubs, and get them used to regular food at that spot. Then put in the trap, throw in the food, and see what happens.

Elk Hair Caddis- trust me on this one! Also, try fly fishing to imitate the real live actions of the bug. You can find them at Bass Pro or Cabela's! Hope it helps, Good Luck!
