I am not talking about bible study. I mean research it's origin and for example: who the authors of the bible are. What are the timelines in the bible. Why their is no real historical record of Jesus.
Common sense and using logic and reason not just what somebody told you.

Reciting bible passages does nothing for me. I don't believe in the bible at all. You may as well just write: lakdufnwm, ekzxciulweldo.

For my background. I was a christian for 21 years. Indoctrinated and studied the bible front to back. Don't call me ignorant. Remember: Judge not lest thee be judged. lol

I scrolled down to the 3rd answer then swam back up. There is a guy trying to answer this question with bible verses....O.K.
I had to study the bible as well. With people who told me what certain things meant. I had a question on one particular occasion on the book of Genesis.I asked how Moses could have written this book when he was buried three stories back? I was told it was divinely inspired by God and that it was to be read as a prediction not Moses returning to life to complete the book. I did say "But." And I was told we were moving on. Quite sternly. It wasn't until years later I researched the bible from perspectives that were more historic or scientific. It's hard when you are involved in the hype to get any real answers from anybody. I have most recently started to read Age of Reason part 2. This man uses the Bible to disprove that God is an evil monster. (Which I never believed despite constant attempts to drill it into my head.) I was a little excited to see that he answered my question from about 15 years ago in that bible study. Moses did not write that book. The author is unknown. That makes sense.
Peace to you.

This stuff has been researched. My study Bible has a page in front of each book that tells who they think the author is and about the time it was written. My Bible also has a timeline in the back along with maps that show where Noah's decedents settled after the flood and how Israel was divided among 11 of the 12 tribes of Israel (the Levites were not to own land since they were the priest). There is also real historical records of Jesus outside of the Bible if you would take the time to research it.

Many do research the bible in fact there are a great many people that make a career out of it. As for the "real" historical record comment, the same can be said about much of what we consider to be history because, much of what is called "history" is nothing more than eyewitness accounts of events that allegedly took place and if the b.c. and a.d. in the date system don't do it for ya then I guess you just don't want to hear anything that differs from what you have already decided about history, which is really just a shame, as it may prohibit new information assimilation on your part.

Its not a head trip, its a heart trip. That's why logic doesn't work. Have you ever been in love? Love has its own way of looking at things. And when the love is with God, the relationship is out of this world. You have to be there to understand. The Bible just points the way, its not the goal.

The origins, timelines, authors etc. are well established and well known. Jesus is a documented historical figure that has survived the "logic" of close minded people for centuries.

I use common sense and logic all the time. It goes hand in hand with the spiritual nature and spiritual life. But, oh, you're missing that portion. Now I understand.

You have already stated that you do not believe the bible so, you are not going to believe the research. There are many Christians on this site and otherwise that have researched and will continue to research the bible because of their love for the Word of God and because the information is available to anyone who takes the time and effort to research it. I commend Busy Lil Bee for the commentary. There have been many like that on this forum. And what do you think historical records are? They come from people, from what someone is telling us. Now that's common sense, logic and reason.

If they researched th bible in the way that you mean, then they would discover that they have been lied to and have been following th wrong path. I do however think that there is some historical fact that Jesus lived. I have never disputed that or that he was a wonderful man who taught about peace and love. It's the other people, like Paul, who never new Jesus and made out like he was his best friend that bother me. Jesus's message was simple and it has been turned into something wholly evil. I have researched Christianity and the bible and came to the conclusion years ago that there are more lies in the bible than in any other book ever written. I don't know or really care if Jesus was the True messiah or not he was still a good man who tried to teach the ways of peace. This is coming from a Pagan with some Gnostic leanings. Back to your original question, they are afraid.

Thank you but I already did and found the Bible is very well supported in both common sense and logic. Time lines do exist in the Bible, many of the authors are named with specific information that can be checked and verified and Christ has more real historical evidence in history than people give him credit for having. Just because you refuse to believe it does not make it any less true.

You quoted the word, that means you must still believe or why did you say that."judge not lease ye be judged"
I have studied and read many other things pertaining to the Bible. The Bible is a great historical book.

It has been done and is on-going... you must not have done your "research"... The True Christian Faith is not bound to or by The Bible... The Bible does not prove our Faith... nor does the Bible prove it's self. and it does not "prove" Jesus, or, for that matter, God... that is not the purpose of the Bible. The fact of the Bible is not the base of The Faith of The True Christian... one need not ever have read a "Bible" to become a True Christian.... but... God will prove The Bible to all who come to Him open to His leading through The Holy Spirit...

The Bible of The True Christian Faith is not intended for you the non-believer... so why do you concern yourself so with it?... you are not bound, in this mortal life, by the words within it... you are free to go about getting away with whatever you can under the laws of man. so why are you obsessed with "researching" The Bible?

There is a lot of evidence for the existance of Jesus. He is mentioned by many scholars of the ancient world even Jewish and pagan sources like Pliny. As for physical evidence here is some. And yeah I am a Christian that studies these sorts of things that are outside of the Bible. Have a good day.
