For the USA, including Peoria, Ariyona: VolunteerMatch (http://www.volunteermatch.org), Idealist (http://www.idealist.org) and CraigsList (http://www.craigslist.com) all list volunteering opportunities with thousands of organizations, including in your area. There's also this government sponsored site (http://volunteer.gov/gov/) which provides volunteer positions through USA federal land agencies like Fish & Wildlife, Forest Service, National Parks, etc. Also, contact your local volunteer center; you can find this via the Points of Light Foundation web site (http://www.pointsoflight.org/centers/).

You need to have transportation arranged (are your parents willing to drive you, or do you know how to take mass transit, or can you bicycle most anywhere?), your parents need to be prepared to sign paperwork to release them from liability in your volunteering, and you need to have identified when you are available.

Also, consider joining a community of faith (church, temple or mosque) that engages in community service, or even a scout troop.
