This, seems to be the way a lot of people are choosing to live their live these days. I am a christian, and the Word of God tells us, that before He returns, there would be a great falling away.My hope as a Christian Is to see Him return and take the saints out before the great tribulation. So I am really looking for My Master to come at any time. If you will read Revelations ,it will tell you what will happen during this time..
It has put a damper on trying to witness to people that call them selves atheist.,because they are so into their beliefs as I am into mine. So I just let them live with the choice they make .We all have to make the descion on our own. I don't think trying force Salvation,on some-one is what God would want me to do. He want us to love Him enough to make the choice, not by trying to make people except Him .He is a Gentlemen.. But I do see more non believers than ever in my life time. Hope this helps.

It depends on what you mean by religion. If a religion is a belief system that believes that some natural laws of the universe have been broken, then of course atheism is a religion. Let's take a look at what Christians (like myself) believe. We believe that an eternal all-powerful being created something from nothing by simply talking, and, fast forward a couple years, then empregnated a virgin with a child who would grow up to be killed, and raised from the dead and ascend to heaven. That's some crazy sounding sh!t, but I believe it. Atheists, for the most part, believe that all the mass in the universe was somehow all condensed onto a tiny little dot, and for no reason, exploded into the universe, and that we are the descendants of single-cell organisms, that over millions of years, evolved into a species as complex as humans. They believe that we are here for pretty much no reason, and there is no meaning to life. The only belief that is truly not a religion is agnostocism. If you truly want to be nonreligious, be an agnostic. Agnostics believe nothing. Atheists believe something, and just as strongly as they believe what they believe, I believe in Christianity. The only reason people accept the atheistic view of the world as not a religion is because it's been shoved down our throats since grade school.

Never was, never will be, by its very definition - a lack of belief - it cannot be one. Some might try to invent religions that have atheism as part of their core, but the minute, the nanosecond, that your group starts espousing a particular dogma (based on deity belief or not) it is no longer just atheism, but humanism, or communism, or something.
Religionist believers have been trying to label it a religion since the concept of state-church separation began. Calling atheism a religion is like calling good health a disease; humans are born atheists, it's only after they are indoctrinated - or infected - with a religion that they become Catholic or Muslim or Hindu, etc.

A religion is a set of common beliefs and practices generally held by a group of people, often codified as prayer, ritual, and religious law. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction.
No, doesn't seem to fit the definition.

Atheism is not a religion. Atheism will never be a religion. Atheism is simply the lack of belief in god.

God forbid an atheist write a book on religion then go on TV to promote it.
Atheism is not a religion and the video is ridiculous. It's encouraging religious bigotry towards atheists.

Depends on the definition of religion you apply.
Is nontheistic Budhism one?
How about the polytheistic ones?
What about the Satanic ritualists in San Fran and elsewhere?
Animism? Sun Worship?
How about deeply beleived agnosticism?
Perhaps God is residing in a pimple on Hanna Montana's left gluteus maximus.
I hope the last guess is correct.

Atheism is nothing more than having no belief in a god.
We have no rituals, texts, clergy, rules, rites, or focus of worship.
We need have nothing at all in common besides not believing in a god.
It is not a religion any more than not believing in leprechauns is a religion.
