I believe you spell it Sharke...Is it an Indian type of last name?

With varied spellings:
Shark
English: possibly a variant of Chark, a metonymic occupational name for a porter or carrier, from Old French "charche" ‘load’.

Sharkey
Irish (Ulster and Connacht): reduced Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó" Searcaigh "‘descendant of "Searcach"’, a byname meaning ‘"beloved’".

So, going by this, there was no Indian unless he was born in Dublin or Paris. LOL

You need to know if that's the original last name - it could be Scharke, which would be German.
