Best thing to do is to go to your music store and buy a guitar-string winder. These are little plastic cranks that fit over the tuning keys to make it easier to tighten or loosen the strings.

When you get one (or if you already have one), look at the outer edge of the little box that fits over the keys. There should be a half-hole cut into that edge. You use that little half-hole to push around the pegs that hold your strings into the bridge and pull the peg out, then the ball-end ought to be easy to wiggle out. That tool is better than pliers because there's no chance you'll apply too much pressure and crunch the peg.

Note--when changing the strings, do one string at a time. That's better for the guitar neck, it maintains more constant tension.

Don't try this unless you are sure.. my guitar had little round white balls holding in the strings at the bridge. My uncle took them out with pliars (they were on the end of little pins that were holding the strings in.. then we shoved them back in with new strings) We just pulled upward with pliars.

If you have never done this before, take it in to a music store and have them show you how. After that, you should be able to do it yourself.
