I'm American and plan on moving to England. Here, we can afford a house below $300,000 that isnt attatched to the neighbors and the outside doesnt look like it's in shambles. I'm afraid that I cant afford anything over £200,000 because in US currency it would be $400,000. Why pay for something that looks like ****? I dont mean to sound offensive (I love the Brits, and the reason why I plan on moving over is to be with friends) but why doesnt your government do something to help its people?

Actually you are being incredibly offensive and insulting to the people struggling to pay their mortgages, and with an attitude such as yours you may as well stay in the Land of Plenty where you can afford your massive high carbon footprint house. Your apparent arrogance in this matter is why a great deal of British people are not very welcoming to Americans

We are a small island which would actually fit into some of your States, and due to the amount of foreigners coming here causing a population crisis, building land is at a premium, especially in and around the cities, if you were to purchase a property in the Lincolnshire area you just may get what you are looking for.

When you pack an island full of people in a civilization that's been around for more than 200 years, it gets a little cozy

Yes, my house is small, but there are only 2 of us, and we have all the space we need. In England, we are far more aware of our carbon footprint. Big houses use lots of electricity, gas e.t.c., burning away the earth's precious resources. It's a shame you American's can't do more towards saving the planet, instead of constantly spouting on about how much bigger and better things are in America!!! Why doesn't YOUR government do anything to cut down on global warming??? Consider yourself told girlie.

There are 76 people per square mile in the USA and 674 people per square mile in UK, so we built dolls houses to live in and 3 billion pubs to have fun in.

Enjoy!

becoz there are 60 m people on our islands. If the USA had the same population density there would be 2.5 bn people.
Building land is at a premium.
Thnk about it, consider, and rephrase your question.

its an island and a big population. You may have to live further out in the country to find what you are after.

we have a very overcrowded country because of people moving from out of the country to ours.
not all of the houses are packed together and cramped. you just have to look in the right places. like little country villages and towns.
i live in Lancashire and its not too crowded.
