I don't care about my whole record, I just want to see the portion about my Bipolar Disorder. I wanna see what my psychiatrist and psychologist have written. The problem is, is I haven't been to the mental health center in over a year. Would they even still have my record? Should I just walk in and ask? Help please!

Why would I have to pay a fee to see MY OWN medical records? How much is the usual fee?

All hospitals, and most doctors' offices, have a release form that you can use to request your medical records. In most cases you can request the medical information directly from the doctor's office or medical records department at a hospital. Each state has different requirements on how long your medical records would be retained for (but its at least several years).

Call and request a copy of you medical record. They legally have to give you a copy. You will have to fill out a release form and sometimes pay a small fee, but you have a right to have them. Most facilities have to legally keep their medical records for 50 years so you shouldn't have a problem.
