If I get a small tattoo on the inside of my wrist, will that affect my future employment as a respiratory therapist?

If you took the time to ask this question, you must realize that a certain percentage of the community is not comfortable with tattoos. In a health care occupation some employers or supervisors, might have a problem seeing a person with visible tattoos as a serious health care professional.

It is your body, and you can make any decision you like related to body art and other forms of self expressions (such as piercings). However, these may raise an issue for the person with which you interview. They probably won't say they didn't hire you because of that, but it is OK if they felt more comfortable with another applicant.

I have tattoos... Don't get them in visible places if you ever expect/ or want a good job. You probably won't make it past the interview.

I used to work at a hospital, and tatoos had to be covered at all times. A coworker of mine had a shaved head with tatoos on his head! He had to wear a surgical cap to cover.

Possibly. Why do it if it could? If you insist on getting one, get it in a hidden place.
