What is the story behind the naming of unit 2416 as "Mum in a Million 1997 - Doreen Scanlon"?

As far as I remember, it was a local (Bournemouth I believe) competition in which children were invited to nominate the best mums and reasons why - the winner having a train named after her. One of the less sensible initiatives dreamt up by train operating companies.

Doesn't look like anyone else in web world knows any more about the reason than I, judging by the forum answers!
