In Matt. 28: 18-20 Jesus is given all power in heaven and earth. We are to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In acts chapter 2 this is were Peter used the keys Jesus gave him in Matt. 16:17-20. This is the first gospel sermon that is preached in Jerusalem this begins the Christan Church (Rom.16:16 the church of Christ) Peters sermon starts in verse 14 By the time they get to verse 36 the Jews that are there realize they have crucified the Messiah. Look at the question they ask in verse 37 Men and brethren, what shall we do? (what must we do to be saved) verse 38 is the answer 3,000 souls were added to them verse 41 and verse 47 says and the lord added to the church daily such should be saved.
God only puts you in the church his Son died for. There is only one church and there is only one faith Eph.4:4-6.
God gave the scriptures and we must follow them. Col.3:17 1 Cor. 1:10
To be baptized in the name of Jesus is the same as being baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, it is done by faith but some teach that baptisim dose not save 1 Peter 3:21

Because it says in the Bible. "There is no other name under heaven. Given among men whereby we must be saved".Churches that baptize don't realize that Jesus was the Father,Son, and the Holy Ghost. That's why we simply baptize in Jesus name. Because that verse says the NAME of those 3 things. That name is Jesus.E-mail me for more info, if you wish.

When Luke wrote that(and only Luke does write that) ,he was under the assumption people knew it was by the authority of the risen Christ that people baptized. For example " By the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ,I baptize you in the name of the Father ,the Son and the Holy Ghost".
That is probably how it went.At the time, and Acts confirms this, most people only knew of the baptism of John. This differentiated these two baptisms.
By the way,Southern Apostolic is quite mistaken and cultish.

Father - Son - Holy Spirit...these three are one.
Edit: 1 John 5:7
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Edit: Jesus was God manifested...when you invoke one name...Father - Son- Holy Spirit...you get all three...Your water baptism is important, but it's your relationship with the Lord that matters...if you want to get baptized again...that's ok too...but you have been baptized in the name of God.

It means the same thing whether it says in the name of Jesus or in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit because all it implies is by the authority of God. Saying in the name of means what it represents. In the name of Jesus or in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit means all authority, power, the character, mind and will of God and all the other attributes of God. Because Jesus is God, either one can be used because it represents all that He is or all that the trinity is, God .

it says to do it in the name. and the name is jesus . father son and holy ghost are titles just as i am a mother daughter and wife. people who baptize in father son and holy ghost believe that they're are 3 beings. but the word says in the beginning was the word the word was with god and the word was god and the word was made flesh and dwelt among us. John 1
God Bless!
