because i wanted to take a whole bunch of DVDs on the plane as hand luggage with me cause i feel like they might get crushed in my checked - in luggage.

so should i be worried?

I took CDs and DVDs with me on a plane, X rays can't damage them. You're ok.

No we have flown with them for years and never had a problem. Make sure they are in their proper case and put between clothing and it should be fine. You could also place them in a DVD folder and place them in your carry on if you are really worried.

i would be more worried about airport employees with sticky fingers when i flew to Maryland they help them self to my mp3 player and some stuff worth some big $$$

You should not be worried about damage from x-ray.and if you pack them well they should be able to survive the baggage handlers
