Does the increasing the backlight level reduce the overall life of my TV like it would increasing the contrast? Or it dosn't matter?

Also, when I'm watcing HD channels, the picture starts to get pixely (i see large squares break out) and the sound goes away. If I fix the antenna, it gets better. I figured that it was the reception (i recieve over the air broadcasts). Is my TV supposed to do this?

Also, the 1080i channels are a bit grainy, is this normal?

Oh yea, and my TV is a 1080p

One more thing, I was watching a blu-ray movie for two hours and my TV started to make some kind of noise. It wasn't loud. It was like a hum. Does this happen when an LCD heats up? If not then why did my TV make this noise?

1. Increasing the backlight level does reduce the life of the backlight. Since, in many cases, this is not a reolplaceable item, this could also reduce the overall life of your set.
2. Digital TV isn't like analog. For analog TV, if the picture degrades you'll start to see graininess or you'll see ghosts. For digital TV, you'll either get a "perfect" picture, no picture, or one that breaks-up and pixelates. You probably have to upgtade your antenna, or at least check it's aiming.
3. Unfortunately, not all HDTV is of top quality. It can only be as good as the source. For example, if the source is upscaled SD, then it's not going to look that great. Check different programs. I've found some of the best to be national and local HD news. If you find some good 1080i HD, then you know your set is good, and the problem is with the sources.
4. It sounds like the TV warmed-up and the fan came on.

Update
TV techman is incorrect. There may be TVs whose backlight level does not change, but there definitely are others where it does. My Sony Bravia's definitely changes.

The backlight adjust will not shorten the life of it....The backlight runs full blast all the time and all you are doing is adjusting the LCD crystal to be open more.....

The Pixelly picture AND the 1080i channels being a bit grainy are BOTH caused by your Antenna's SIGNAL STRENGTH.....

If you install an OUTDOOR ANTENNA it will improve....

As a TV warms up it can use more current and that can make your power supply transformers vibrate....it's not a big deal as long as you don't have to increase your Volume up to 70% of maximum....

IF and WHEN you have to do that, then you call for service on the power supply.....
