My Dad was a 20 year Marine Master Sergeant, with tattoos on both shoulders. It never affected his career. But then again he was "Old Corps", from back when they could beat the tar out of a boot for any reason.
This is the kinder, gentler Corps. Rules change a lot over the years. I would talk to a recruiter or someone in Marine personnel.

It might. The best thing to do would contact a recruiter about it.

I know that the new Marine Corps regulation does prohibit tattoos visible in summer PT gear. That has no baring on this question, but you should keep it in mind.

If you want to be a PLC, I advise against it. All tattoos need a great deal of paperwork and something like that wouldn’t look too good when it’s in front of the selection board.

Once you’re in, and older and wiser, you may decide otherwise.

No, it will not affect your career in the Corps, but there are several government agencies (FBI, Secret Service, etc.) you will not be able to work for when you get out of the military. No distinguishing marks...

Don't get that stupid ******* tattoo everyone is going give **** because of that. In Kuwait there was this young lcpl from new river. We called him "new river". He had a tattoo on his *** that said "PROPERTY OF USMC". No one took that guy seriously. If you get retarded tattoos people will take you less seriously. So don't do it unless you don't want people to take you seriously.
