For example, i recently watched some "home movies" from when i was a kid and I haven't seen these old movies since I was a kid and it submerged me into a very strange state of severe , almost paralyzing depression. The same thing happens if i hear a song that i remember from my childhood but haven't heard since then. Luckily this state of depression only lasts for about a half hour, but it is bad enough that if i had to talk to someone or was supposed to be doing something productive, i would not be able to.

This one is easy, it happens to me as well. You're at a point of your life that requires more stress and responsibility, so when you watch these home movies you can't help but to wish you lived in the past when things were easy, fun and exciting for you. To sum it all up, you'd rather live in the past than to live where you are now.

It could be any number of things. Maybe there is something from your childhood that you can't let go of....
Maybe something bad happened to you and your mind has blocked it, but it's trying to resurface.
Regardless, if it's that intense, you should talk to someone about it. Go see your doctor.

you often feel as if you were helpless or powerless to deal with that particular issue at the time, you maybe clinging to those events in your life to remind you of what you've been through, but you should not continue to blame yourself for those things you could not resolve, instead it's more important that you have come through it much more wiser, compassionate, and stronger for having live through them.
