Should i bake or cook something?
im a very keen cook, and i usually make things when we have visitors, but i dont know if it would be apporpriate seeing as our sons got in a fight together (a verbal fight)
And if i were to cook, what should i make?
any suggestions?

I think some sort of finger food would be appropriate and would serve as a ice-breaker while giving everyone something to do.

Cookies would do, depending on the time of day.

This is easy, but looks very pretty and complicated:
Dill Dip Bread:
2/3 c. mayonnaise
2/3 c. sour cream
1 tbsp minced green onion
1 tsp dried dill weed
1 tbsp minced parsley
few drops Tabasco

mix all ingredients together. Chill

Then, get 2 whole, round loaves of pumpernickel bread. Hollow one out, saving the insides.
Tear the insides, and the second loaf into bite size pieces.

Fill the hollowed-out loaf with the dip and arrange the pieces of bread around it. You dip the bread in the dip and eat.

I think serving them something would be a lovely idea, and it might make the visit less awkward. Perhaps an appetizer of some kind, like an antipasto tray or hot dip in a bread bowl. Nothing too elaborate, but enough to show that you thought ahead about the meeting.

A light snack would be appropriate with soda or lemonade. Stay away from alcohol. Aim at making them them feel comfortable and letting them know you want to do the right thing.

I would just turn on the coffee pot and have some scones, biscotti or cookies out. Nothing too lavish as you don;t want to distract them from the matter but maybe you all can go away as friends.

Prepare some coffee, make some iced tea, and bake up a coffeecake.

Well I guess they are comming to your house for a talk, so you don't need to do anything big. Just serve them some drinks and some store-bought cookies, or anything you have on hand that you don't really mind letting them eat.
