My parents thought drinking and smoking were more important than spending time with their children and paying the bills. Did it change who I might have become I'm not sure. If I had decent parents who didn't smoke or drink would I have become an alcoholic and a smoker? I learned from their mistakes and I don't smoke but drink occasionally.

If you mean my stepfather drinking and beating the crap out of me all the time, then yes. But I think all the drugs he and my mother did probably were worse than the drinking.

However, I don't care if it did make me a different person. I happen to like who I am. Why sit around and lament on "who I could have been?" All of our paths are changed by different circumstances - who's to say that one path is better or worse than what might have happened? It is just different.

Yes, but not the way some may think. I see so much drinking that the thought of alcohol makes me sick. I really won't ever drink any of it. I see how it really can distort the mind and ruin lives.

Gosh yes! My father was an alcoholic, and so was his father, and so on. I also inherited the "addictive" gene, and so did one o9f my sons. It's sad really. BUT--- I've found peace, understanding, and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

My kids dad drank alot, and I know it has affected them, but they have a long life ahead of them. God will intervene and bring healing, deliverance and they will become what God has designed them to be.
