If your dog is loosing hair it could be dermatitis from fleas. That would also explain the tapeworms, and fleas carry the tapeworms and the animal will ingest it during grooming. Your vet can give you meds for the worms and recommend a good flea prevention.

Tapeworms In Dogs Stool

Yes you can get tapeworms. Tapeworms have segments and within those segments there are eggs. Normally tapeworms need an intermediate host for the eggs to mature. But I have heard that there are exceptions. So be cautious and make sure you wash your hands and keep your pet clean to limit exposure to the eggs and possible infection.
Yes worms can cause intestinal bleeding. A small amount of blood is not an emergency. But an increase in the amount of blood or in the frequency would need to be addressed right away. Be sure that you take her to the vet on Monday. Worm infestation can cause a multitude of problems.
Some say garlic is bad for dogs others say it is OK just not in large amounts. I would consult my vet because of the conflicting information. I personally wouldn't give my dog garlic because I read on the ASPCA website (I think) that it is toxic to them.
Make sure she is eating and drinking normally. You could call an E.R vet in your area and tell them the situation and ask if it would be OK to wait until Monday.
I rescued 2 BTs recently and they both had worms. The girl had them really bad. When I called my vet to tell her that she had bloody diarrhea she told me to bring her in late the next afternoon. I was over a day before she was seen. But she did ask me a multitude of questions to asses the urgency of the situation. Hope this helps.

Humans get get most sort of worms that animals carry, try taking some combantrim for yourself and giving you dog worming tablets - better still - go to your vet who will probably have a stronger dose for your dog than you can buy from the supermarket.

Blood in the stool is not good either - i have never heard of garlic powder being good or bad for dogs, the ice chips are good however.

Good luck

If he is losing hair, he probably has mange or some sort of mite. Certain types can be transfered to people so be careful and wash your hands. Blood in his poop are from the worms. Good thing you grabbed a sample so they can test it to see what types of worms he has. Best to bring a poop sample for them.
Here's a good website that talks about the different types of worms:

Should answer any of your questions. Glad you have an appointment for him on Monday. He should be fine until then, not comfortable, but fine. Might want to wrap him in a towel or crate him for the drive to and from the vet, just in case, for the mites problem. Any other questions, feel free to ask. I have worked at a dog shelter for 3.5 yrs so I have seen just about everything.

If you are planning to go to the vet on monday just keep the pup on a bland diet until then and she should be ok. Keep a stool sample to take to the vet and they can check her for worms. Sounds like she might just be passing something she shouldn't have eaten but the vet will know. I always worry when I see blood and it always seems to be on the weekend when I can't get to the vet immediately. Hasn't ever been any problems waiting until Monday too get my boy checked out. Good luck!

First, I would contact the rescue group. Obviously, she has a bad case of worms. But you cannot treat it, and never try OTC meds. If you got the pup from a pound or kill shelter, chances are they won't have a vet onsite, nor did they offer any sort of healthcare or shots, etc. The other symptoms may or may not be related to the worms, but the one thing that is obvious is she needs vet care asap, whether the rescue people provide it or you find your own. You can worry about reporting them, or reimbursement if this was a rescue group that promised it was healthy, later. Your priority now needs to be the dog. i'm sorry this happened and good luck!

Probably be OK until Monday. Good for you, hydration is the most important thing.

Your dog has a lot of stuff going on, so do not try OTC medications until a vet evaluates the dog.

You need to get your dog to the vet, if it was a tapeworm with blood, will immediate meds to stop the tapeworms....

don't wait......tapeworms thrive on the nutritional value of a dog, this means what ever your dog eats is not getting all his nutrients, the tapeworm is.....don't wait and the blood is not a good sign....
