because He was being tested? If so, why was He willing to hurt innocents to make His point? If not, should we assume that He does not answer prayers?

"Answering" prayer does not mean it will be answered the way you want it to be answered.

If god did actually answer prayers why would he be selective? Many decent people from all walks of life and faiths pray for things they actually need to survive. They don't receive them. But then some dumb christian girl brags about how she prays to god to help her pass her algebra tests and gets a C and he came through for her. Oh the irony....

God doesn't answer every prayer with a "yes". He did not even spare Jesus from suffering, pain, hurt, and death. Why on earth do we think we are more deserving than He was? We are not. Pain is a part of life. People die of sicknesses, even if they are Christians who pray to live. That is life. Suffering and death exist because humans are sinners who have screwed this place up with all our sin. It's not God's fault but ours.

God answers all prayer...but sometimes he says no to our request. He is not our servant...we are his. There are things that are much worse than death.
