is the neck of an electric guitar thinner than an acoustic?

i was wondering because i seem to be having trouble pushing down the strings without my wrist hurting and bending to much. almost as if my hand is to small or sumthing .

Well it all depends on the guitar, but if you are just learning, it doesn't much matter, because you will have wrist and finger pain with either starting out. Bear with it, it will go away in time as your muscles adjust.

Generally yes, largely because the strings are thinner on the electric and the body is more solid.

They have to distribute tension on an acoustic.
