You know for every loser- there is more people who DO want to hear and see your heritage, interested in learning about it and who wont make fun of you

What is your heritage? As a southerner, I know that sometimes talking about your heritage and culture can lead to ridicule. You know, confederate biggot all that jazz just for talking about the confederate flag.
In the same token, some symbols and cultural aspects of the past have been made into mean hateful things in the present i.e. the confederate flag again. So you have to be careful.
As for them making fun of your music, can they play an instrument or sing? Probably not. You have a gift, a talent, and you should use it with pride. That shows you are proud of your heritage. And the languages- well, how many people in this world can speak different languages? Not many. You have another gift. Now, if it isn't a foreign language- it's an accent maybe? Be proud of that. It simply shows what nationality of people settled where your family is from. My folks were from Wales and Scotland, and they settled in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. The strange accent and words they used are commonly called "Hillbilly" in the rest of the US, when in fact they are old english; a highly enlightened language.

So, go for it. Forget what others might say or think, and do your family proud.

Good luck.

Wow. THAT is something only you can choose.
I am glad to hear that you want to... and especially if you really know something about it.
One thing I really really like about the internet is that people of all backgrounds can talk to each other. I am 58 yrs old, and well past caring what others think. But I still remember what a loser is, and they have ALWAYS been there. And loser is exactly the right word. Immature. On the other hand, I talk to persons of all ages on the internet, and age means less, when you have things in common to talk about.
I encourage you to do what you feel like you can. Maybe you will open someone else's mind.
*smile*
edit-
I admire Jan's spirit. IF the clothing is stars and bars (confederate) I'll respectfully disagree. MANY schools now directly prohibit any type of clothing that might be interpreted as confrontational, etc, and confederate symbolism is seen by many as racist. Not saying it is/ isn't, but it is being seen that way by schools. A couple girls in Texas were suspended for buying such purses, and bringing them to school.

Like Annabell said, be proud of your heritage if you are from the south , and if it is a "Stars and Bars" flag -type shirt you are going to wear--GO FOR IT. People wear clothes with the Stars and Stripes all the time now and nothing is said.
Again, if you mean accents instead of languages, I love a southern accent. :) My great-grandmother's family came from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, and some of my Dad's family have lived in Arkansas and Virginia.. In fact, one time I had to go to a doctor in Iowa City, which is in the northeast part of the state. One of the nurses asked me which part of the south I came from, and I said "Southwest Iowa." My hometown is maybe 300 miles from Iowa City, and she thought my "accent" was from the deep south--like Mississippi or Alabama!!
As for the music--be proud you can play an instrument and/or sing. Some of the "hottest" recording stars today can't carry a tune in a bucket as far I'm concerned. I have never set foot in Louisiana, but I love the sound of Zydeco music (especially that of Zachary Richard) and a Cajun accent.
There have been bullies in schools ever since the idea of education began. In my entire high school, I had 3 friends that did not make fun of me, one way or another. Don't stoop to their level or let them bother you. They'll get over it someday, and if not--that's their loss for missing out on learning something new, or as a friend of mine always said,"They have the same pants to get glad in that they got mad in."
So, be proud of your heritage, and your culture. Again, if you're from the South--save your Dixie Cups. THE SOUTH WILL RISE AGAIN!!.

Maybe showing others what your culture is will open their minds to change.
If we all lived in our little worlds with out being exposed to other cultures, we would be short narrow minded people.
I would think there would be more of your classmates that would be fascinated by learning of different places than outside of their region.
Teaching others opens doors.
But trusting enough to let them see it is ultimately your choice.
