I am catholic, but lately i havn't prayed. Everysince my twins where born, I havn't been able to pray or go to church that much. I want God back in my live, it seems like i fight, swear and bad things happen more. I want to pray and have a happy healthy live again. What should i do, what prayers should i say.

Prayer is the elevation of the mind and heart to God:
+ In praise of his glory
+ In petition for some desired good
+ In thanksgiving for a good received
+ In intercession for others before God

Through prayer the Christian experiences a communion with God through Christ in the Church.

"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." (St. Thérèse of Lisieux)

"Prayer is the raising of one's mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God." (St. John Damascene)

But when we pray, do we speak from the height of our pride and will, or "out of the depths" of a humble and contrite heart? (Psalm 130:1)

He who humbles himself will be exalted; humility is the foundation of prayer. Only when we humbly acknowledge that "we do not know how to pray as we ought," are we ready to receive freely the gift of prayer.

You might want to try the Liturgy of the Hours:

Liturgy of the Hours is the preferred term in the Latin rite for the official liturgical prayers sanctifying the parts of each day. It is also known as the Divine Office and is made up of:
+ Lauds, or Morning Prayer
+ Vespers, or Evening Prayer
+ Compline, or Night Prayer, is the final prayer for the day

Oh, yes, and go to Mass.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Your a Catholic, the grace is already present.
The only thing missing is some structure.

----

* Sign of the cross *

Pray before bed; position - kneel, as you would before a king, Christ is the King of Kings!

A simple "Our Father" to bring you in communion with the Lord.

Second, pray the Hail Mary out of respect for her bringing forth Jesus.

Third, Say an Act of Contrition always before bed since we are not guaranteed we will awake.
In the event we die in our sleep we are taken directly to Heaven!

AOC:

O my God, I am sorry for my sins because I have offended you. I know I should love you above all things.
Help me to do penance, to do better, and to avoid anything that might lead me to sin. Amen.

Start your prayers:

Example:

Oh Lord i pray that you protect my family both spiritually and physically, please protect us against all evil and allow us to live on your Earth without any sickness and/or disease.
Upon the end of our life on your Earth i pray that you allow us entrance into your heavenly kingdom for all eternity, as your servant.

Pray for the lost souls in purgatory that they may be released from their sins and enter unto your Heavenly kingdom.

Pray for sick friends that require a miracle.

Pray for the Church, the Pope, priests and all the cleargy that they will continue to strive forward in broadcasting the Lords magnificent words of hope and salvation to all of mankind.

Finish:

Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, a World without end.

* sign of the cross *

Always finish each individual prayer with "Amen" (so be it).

You have been away from church for awhile, you will have to attend confession on a Saturday, then after Penence you can receive Communion at Mass on Sunday.
Furthermore, when you readjust to being a practicing Catholic make sure to get the Wife and children involved also.
Should they desire to immediately attend Mass with you, all the better!

Finally, make sure to attend confession and receive the Eucharist/Communion in GOOD FAITH.

Remember, when we come back to the church after a long time we need to return in a slow fashion so we can adjust.
In the event the above may seem like too much prayer, than shorten the amount, you can always add more when ready.

God bless'

I think you should reword this question to God and ask Him. Tell him you aren't feeling like praying, tell Him that you want Him back in your life. Tell him you feel like you fight, swear, and bad things are happening more.

You could just be worn out from having twins. And even possibly sufferning from some post-partum depression. But mostly just worn the crap out. Twins are a lot to handle! Give yourself a break and just tell God how you feel.

I am Catholic too. You can't pray Catholic. There is not a certain way to pray. Prayer is talking to God. Prayer is not rattling of memorized prayers, or saying the same thing. Prayer has to be meaningful and come from your heart. God bless you.

It is wonderful that you recognize the difference God makes in our lives. Different people need different kinds of prayer at different points in their lives, I think. If you want, you can just speak with God in your own words.

If you need written prayers, you are in good company. Try this site http://www.catholic.org/clife/prayers/ for a bunch of prayers for different times and situations.

And of course, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the highest prayer given to us. Going to Mass is a number one priority. And if you first go to confession for any mortal sins, you can receive our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

God is a loving Father, and He desires communion with each of us. I have made the mistake of imagining that things must be exactly right before and when I pray. But God knows my flaws, and I just need to give Him what I am now. His grace is all we need!

im feeling pretty much the same right now! im on my third kid and want nothing more to get back into the church and whatnot. My oldest boy has adhd so i think i tend to use that as an excuse for not going (bad one hey) I cant get myself up to go! I feel like im not "worthy" of the church anymore. I cant think of anything other than the "bad" things i have done! I dont know maybe i just need to go to confession! I like to say a rosary when i go to bed, just in my head by myself! Kid are sleeping and nothing is around to bother you! I like it and it always calms me down to a very nice night sleep. Maybe that will work for you. good luck!

There is no secret to prayer.. It is only talking to God,.Each morning when I used to walk my dog ,I would thank God for the day, my life ,my family, my health, and the health of our family.. I would pray that if it were his wish, another week of health for my family..And to allow me to be what ever I could be for who ever I could be,not for my own gratification, but because there was a need..and finally when my day comes, the strength to bear up to whatever I have to ,and allow me to be happy with him in heaven.. Then I would close, NOT MY WILL, BUT THY WILL BE DONE!! You could pray going to work, or at night before you go to bed!!! Hope that helps, that's the way I used to do it... Peace be with you.. Sometimes it's hard for me to pray. It feels like I'm unplugged. That's when you should fight the hardest! Pray to the Theotokos and your patron saint, ask them to pray for you. Pray all the time. Cross yourself all the time! I am Greek Orthodox, but there are a few things we have in common.

And don't let those misinformed people get to you. Pray for their salvation.

Start by regularly praying (talking to God), regularly going to Church and confession. That will lead you on the right path.

the catholic campus minister told this to me when i asked him the same question- he said before i get into the formal prayers to just sit down and talk to God as if He were there right next to you. So that night i did- I basically told God how my day was and it went from there. do that, it will come to you
