As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I would have to say yes, it is another testament of the divinity of the Savior, the Son of God. We as Saints challenge anyone to read and then pray fervently of it truthfulness. It's funny how some will go as far as saying it is a book brought by Satan. Someone is really in need of their medication or are ignorant of the book itself.
As for the so-called lifelong Mormon, Tiffany B:
Recommending the book by an excommunicated member of the church will not get you any browny points. The book has long been proved to have a lot of discrepancies, half truths, and outright lies. This is why Fawn Brodie was excommunicated from the church. You have been duped into believing the book and Fawn Brodies validity. I recommend rereading the Book of Mormon and praying about it earnestly. You might get an answer right away, then again, you might not.

Just like with The Holy Bible, there are believers and non-believers. It seems for many however, one's belief in "The Bible" may not be based on a personal testimony so much as a "societal testimony".
I think the best way to answer this question is to take the challenge an LDS missionary would present to you: read The Book of Mormon and pray to know if it is true.
Actually, perhaps the better answer to this question is that one should start by taking the same challenge with The Holy Bible first so they actually know without a shadow of a doubt that there were two testaments before The Book of Mormon existed...Baby steps...
If not, then it makes sense to get a majority ruling on the divinity of The Book of Mormon and go off of that...Be blessed on your journey seeking truth :)

Coming from somebody who was raised Mormon all their life.
First read it for yourself. Secondly know the facts. There are alot of inconsistencies within the book and the book itself was written under some odd circumstances. Joseph Smith found golden plates within a hill (Cumorah) that were written in an ancient language. Then he translated the book by looking into glowing stones. He then proceeded to use the book against others as a form as black mail to aide in the production cost and printing costs. He also began to reveal that he needed more than one wife in order to fulfill Gods desires. The Mormon church does not tell you all these things. They know how odd it is. This is a huge downfall for them because many members find this out much later and feel cheated and fooled.
The LDS church today has come along way since then. They do not follow hardly any of these same guidelines. They do alot of good things in the community and for people in general. They have good intentions, if the book is true however, is something you will have to try to discover yourself. There are many different books you can read about The Book of Mormon. Try "No man knows my history". This is a biography of Joseph Smith. It's here it is revealed his prior court cases for fraud.

It's great that Mormons can be so blinded by many other books they've probably never read themselves. Like "LDS mother of three" have you ever read anything that the LDS church didn't OK you for reading? Of course anyone who writes anything against the Mormon church will get excommunicated. That's not hard to put together.
The truth is the LDS church is so particular about which books, media, etc they OK for members reading that it's become ridiculous. Anything that questions the validity of the "truth" of the church is a "no-no". You are considered playing with fire. Wouldn't it be you are considered wanting to find the truth? Why are they so afraid of individuals discovering truth and knowledge on their own? Why are they so scared of someone reading something that wasn't approved?
So, read the book, read other books about that particular time and history, read books about the book! Then maybe you will know.

No. Mormonism is an aberration. Joseph Smith's "book of Mormon" which is purported by some to be "another testament of Jesus Christ" was a scandalous attempt by Joseph Smith's part to elevate himself to the position of one of God's prophets and to dethrone Christ from His rightful place as God and man in hypo static union.
The book of Mormon condemns itself with many principles and doctrines that are contrary to God's word.

Paul said
Gal 1:6-9: "I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from him that called you in the grace of Christ unto a different gospel; (7) which is not another gospel: only there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (8) But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach unto you any gospel other than that which we preached unto you, let him be anathema. (9) As we have said before, so say I now again, If any man preacheth unto you any gospel other than that which ye received, let him be anathema."
Joseph Smith changed the basic truths of the Gospel.
