I am going in to get a hair cut in about a week (hopefully).
I have a lot of extra money and my hair is desperately needing to get dyed. I have never gotten my hair dyed professionally.. I always go to WalMart and buy dye, and do that myself.
Is going to a professional better? Are there any other pros/cons to getting your hair dyed at a professional rather then doing it yourself?
I know it will cost a lot more then doing it myself, but if I have the extra money I'm wondering how I could benefit from it.

Awesome.. I trust the stylist I'm going to, I have known her for years and used to go to school with her daughter. She's the only person I trust cutting my hair, and she does know what kind of styles I like. I'll be getting it dyed black, unless I come up with another fun color that I'd be able to have at work.

yes it will be way better, the pros and cons are really easy.
pros- Your hair looks professionaly done and not walmart box done.
Cons- costs more.
it will look good, but remember stylists can sometimes try to take control, you have to let them know what you want. You have to tell them when they start doing something you dont like, you are the one paying the money, who cares if you may be a little embaressed saying "hey do you think maybe you could do it this way instead". In the end you will get what YOU want.
Anyways best of luck in the new year and with your head!

if you can dye your own hair properly, and really know what you're doing, it makes no difference if you do it yourself or get it done professionally. if you want to splurge, maybe go to a beauty supply store and buy some salon-grade dye (which really does look nicer, and last longer than the drug store brands) and a good deep conditioner. it will cost.. maaaybe $30, and be the same quality of what a professional could do. i dyed my hair brown in september and it still looks amazing, the color hasn't faded at all. :)
hope i helped xx

Having your hair done professionally is always a better choice than doing it yourself, because these people have professional training and (usually) years of experience, whereas you don't. Going to a pro ensures that you'll get what you want and won't walk away with orange hair when you wanted blonde (which is one common mistake when trying to bleach hair at home). Additionally, if you make a mistake at home, it could cost a lot more to have a pro fix it than if you went to a pro in the first place.
I must admit, I have cut and colored my hair at home, but it has never looked better than when a pro hairstylist did my hair. After all, could you do a better job than a hairstylist who does hair for a living?
Some may argue that it costs less to do your own hair at home, but if you make a mistake and need a pro to fix it, you may end up spending hundreds of dollars more than just going to a pro and spending $50-100 to begin with.

You get what you pay for! Spend the extra $ and go to a reputable salon. Trust the stylist! Explain kinds what you want or have pics ready (from mags or internet) Kick back and let them do their job! (No I'm not a stylist - but I was in your shoes once and finally decided to splurge a little. Very glad I did!) Good Luck!

I would never trust coloring my hair my self. i always have the same girl do it at a salon and she is awesome. it also helps if you dont really have an idea about what you want they can help you and they know what looks good or what doesnt you just have to find someone who has about the same taste and personality as you.

I would love to get a professional dye (and highlight!) done. Throw in a mani/pedi, makeup by an artist and a massage, and I'm going to be one happy girl.

there are no cons about going to a professional unless you go to a cheap salon such as fantastic sams or something. you should definately do it b/c it will come out so much nicer and they can do so much more with it than you can with a home dye

When you get it done professionally,it's obvious that it's going to look...well,professional.They know what they are doing(hopefully). And they will know what will look good on you, based on your skin tone and all that stuff.
I don't really see anything bad in getting it done professionally.
