I mean taking bits and pieces from each religion that would help you in your life and rejecting that which does no good to you.

Essentially the metaphor I used was taking from each bucket anything that would help you get to your destination (lets call it happiness) no matter what bucket (religion) it came from. Then rejecting the other stuff in the buckets, the dead weights, that would only weight you down.

Rather then identifying myself as a Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, or Jew I am my own self.

I am Athiest in a sense that I do not believe in a deity until there is scientific proof but I still use parts from each religion for wisdom. Mainly from Buddhism but there has been a few good sayings from Islam that I've heard.

i absolutely do. most religions have wise gems to offer amid a whole lot of crap. what i try to do is separate the wisdom from the crap and cobble it together into a set of beliefs that work just fine for me. i draw wisdom from buddhism, paganism, wiccan, hinduism, judaism, christainity, ba'hai, islam, and many others.

i don't like to call myself an atheist because i don't identify with all the smart mouthed people who are dead convinced there is no god, and i'm not sure what my beliefs regarding god are anyways. i just find what works for me and use it, and i don't think there's any other way to do it. following one set of rules for everyone doesn't work.

but in the end, your beliefs don't matter. it's your actions that do.

I think it's an awful idea. It brings too many problems because everyone does not believe the same so despite of right and wrong there will always be ones to get easily offended, go against the grain and be extreme. But then the problem will always be on what basis do our laws come from ? It will always be mixed because when we vote on laws or when the officials do things to make life "better" they and we will always use our individual consciences that are governed by our individual morals which usually stem from whatever religion we are or aren't.

Oh, I am just a blender full of stuff lol. I am a practicing witch who's altar is dedicated to Jesus and Mary Magdalene (God & Goddess) I also believe in the devil but not hell, believe in an afterlife, but it's not really "Heaven", and I also support reincarnation and karma. I also ghost hunt from a scientific and not spiritual approach and still read my tarot cards and believe everything they have to say....I even throw in a little voodoo every now and then just because it's interesting.

Confused yet? lol Believe it or not, I am the least confused that I have ever been in my entire life.

Yes, I am a spiritual "mutt", if you will.

I'd say I'm a mix of at least five different religions; however, I identify myself as Christian because I do believe Jesus is the redeemer of the entire human race.

EDIT:
Ghosthunter, if I went into detail on this question, my answer would be identical to yours, minus the voodoo.

I do.
I have the Bible, Torah, Quran and Bagavad Gita all on the same shelf. I find great things for life in each book

i agree with that. you do not have to believe in god to find wisdom in certain philosophies. it is just as wise to disregard the ones that seem wrong. i think this is the best way to go as you actually have a chance to grow as a person instead of just limiting yourself to certain doctrines.
