I guess the only logical answers are that only Catholics get possessed,

OR

only Catholic priests are brave enough to risk their lives and face a demon.

Ok, everyone -- this IS a tongue-in-cheek answer, nevertheless, I'm sure you'll be more than happy to give me a barrage of downward-pointing digits.

Not sure why the horror movies only use Catholic priests for exorcisms. I HAVE seen a Protestant exorcist but I don't believe he's for real, more like a snake-oil salesman. Travels the country driving demons out of people from an audience. He used to run a radio show and would do it over the air.

Maybe horror directors think Catholic priests have more credibility than a jerk like Bob L.

Anglicanism, several Protestant denominations, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), Judaism, Hinduism, Scientology, and Islam practice some kind of exorcism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exorcism

However screenwriters seem to like to stick with old favorites.

Catholics have been casting out demons ever since Jesus and the Apostles did it.

Modern psychology says that most of the people who had demons cast out of them were probably miraculously cured from schizophrenia and other mental illnesses. But their cures were still miracles.

The Catholic Church believes that real demonic possessions are rare but possible, so they keep a few exorcists around just in case.

The Church has guidelines in place to take great care to exhaust psychological options before calling in an exorcist.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 1673: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt2sect2chpt4.htm#1673

With love in Christ.

The priest is a raw nerve for some Protestants. The priesthood and the belief in the Eucharist is one of the fundamental differences between these two branches of Christianity.

Because more often than not, it is the Catholic Church--rather than the various Protestant churches--that satanists & devil worshippers mock.

Example: satanic masses, etc.

So whenever a person ends up becoming demonically possessed, it is usually after some satanic ritual done to mock Catholic Christianity.

You get the answers if you can answer these questions:
1. Who makes these movies? Hollywood
2. Who are in Hollywood movie makers? Protestants or Jews.
3. Who do these people have to put down? Anyone who is not
a Jew or Protestant.
Since exorcism exists with in Christianity, they chose the
Catholic priests, but in reality the person acting is a
Protestant.....check all those priests names in those movies

Old Catholic teachings include instructions on exorcisms. They are still sanctioned by the church and approved by the Pope or his advisors at the Vatican.

Protestants do not have this history and do not sanction exorcisms.
