well once again i have to take her to vet to get her deworming medicane i don't know whats wrong i put flea stuff on her i got 2 cats and the other one doesn't have that much problems.
I think it might be because my sister recently brought in a stray and he's covered with fleas it seems and she doesn't take care of it and i can't aford to take care of her animal and i can only aford to do that to me. is it cruel to keep them locked in my room away from the other cat? I hate doing this I really want my cat to be worm free and it sucks if i have to go every 2 or 3 months :(

You're right not to want to buy flea or worm stuff from a store - store bought flea and worm treatments don't work.

You're not going to be able to get rid of fleas on your cats if there's an untreated cat around infesting the place. Yes it would be quite cruel to keep this cat locked up - and it would also not stop the fleas from spreading, they can get under doors easily. Please sort your sister out so she treats this cat properly, or do it yourself - if she's not going to take care of the cat properly, have it taken to someone who will because this current situation is unacceptable.

You haven't said exactly WHAT the problem is, just that there is a problem - if it's something other than fleas/worms you'll have to ask a vet.

Oh don't go spending all that money. It will be just fine. Take care of that poor cat's fleas though, it's probably miserable. As for the worms though, just buy a 10 dollar treatment from Wal*Mart or your local grocery store. Use it AS DIRECTED. If the worms don't go away in 3-4 weeks, then consult the vet again. Also, your cat may get diarrhea from the medicine or get sick. This is most likely good. It means the worms are passing through.

All it takes is for your cat to swallow one flea while cleaning herself to develop tapeworms. The flea treatment may not work fast enough to kill the flea before the cat gets it. It might be cheaper in the long run to apply a dose of flea preventative to your sister's cat. Fleas will be pervasive in your house and you will continue to have this problem, even if you keep your cats in one room, unless all cats are treated at the same time. Even then, if the fleas are well-established, you may have a difficult time ridding your household of them and may have to continue to treat for fleas for several months.
